Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
William hasn't felt as well yesterday and today as right after the surgery. The weather is rainy so that may have something to do with it. He did say yesterday that he is bored. He was tired of sitting around.
Dizzy the surgery was on his right knee. I have noticed him using his crutch more the last two days.
The doctor told William not to drive for two weeks. So I've been driving for him. I've driven more in the last week than I have in the last two years.
I hope everyone is feeling good. Take care. May God bless each one of you.

Mine was too, but at least I was able to drive after 1 week. And, he's right on for when he'd be using crutches more.
I can so relate to being bored. If I hadn't had friends come over and had my laptop, I would have gone nuts!

boredom and restricting personal freedom (real or perceived) are the bane of recovery. I find a need to stimulate both my mind and occupy my hands daily. For me if I cannot walk around my property I am on the internet, with the tv in the background (yes I am watching "Airwolf" on Netflix as I type this) and a project is on hold, in todays case the paint is drying on a battery tray for my tractor. Try puzzles, books, heck even an erector set, anything to keep his mind and hands busy.

Well its been a roller coaster here. As my family gathered to celebrate the 9th birthday of my niece we had to put my grandfather in the hospital. Falling and confusion, and other extreme age issues. My sister and her son made it in from Virginia and were able to see him at home one last time. Today, after 5 days in the hospital, he was transferred to a nursing home. My parents, being in their 70's were just overwhelmed with what it took to take care of him, and keep him at home. The last few weeks he kept asking to go home, even though he was in the home he built in 1972. (Sundowners was the final diagnosis) In a way it is a relief, and in other ways a very sad day.

For dinner tonight DS and I made smoked salmon from some fillets I bought on sale. It came out wonderful and we will DEFINITELY be making it again. I can't wait to taste it once it's had a chance to chill but warm it tasted yummy.
This was our first attempt at smoking fish and it was a huge hit. My DS bought the new smoker/grill with some of his Christmas money because he really wants to get into grilling and smoking all kinds of different foods.

next time, just before taking it up, lightly drizzle some honey over the salmon
Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
Thanks for the suggestions guys, we'll definitely be playing with the smoker more often throughout the summer.

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
It's been very hot and humid here. Even with our central air going (vent doesn't work in living room where thermostat is) I have it set on 70 & it was 78 in there last night but still more tolerable than when we couldn't use our air and it was 100 in there.
But because of the heat I am going to do meatball subs tonight. I can put them in the crockpot, which means I don't have to use the oven, and we can have chips and cookies with them. My mom used to do that a lot when I was growing up and it would be hot. Lunchmeat sandwiches, chips and cookies.

It's very hot and humid here too. I'm thinking of sloppy joe sandwiches with chips for dinner tonight. Last night was BLT sandwiches with fresh from the garden ripe tomatoes.

Hot, humid, and just plain miserable inside the plant where I work. Lots of break downs due to the computer controls overheating. Oh well, makes me appreciate my time at home even more.
Thanks to my parents success with their garden, and the generosity of my in-laws, fresh green beans, new potatoes, smoked sausage, and a couple fresh peaches for dessert. I'm fuller n a tick, but hopefully things will be quiet the rest of the night.

Today was hot, humid and hazy. When it gets like this, I just don't feel like cooking. So, it's almost 9:30, and I haven't eaten much of anything for dinner.

Last night was hashbrown casserole & biscuits. I was too tired to do much else. I finally finished the rag quilt for the lady who ordered it.

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
Saturday I made a turkey with all the trimmings. Cleaned off the carcus sp? and got 2 bowls of left overs. Put one bowl in the freezer and the other in the refrigerator and on Tuesday made turkey and dumplings. Just like I make chicken and dumplings.
Now kristin and the grandblessings want turkey and dumplings so this next Tues. I will be using the bowl that is in the freezer and having turkey and dumplings with our oldest and youngest daughters and all 4 grandblessings. I enjoy our time together.

Kerrig, I love hashbrown casserole. Haven't had it in a while 'cause of my blood sugar, though.
I got some chicken leg quarters on sale and cooked and de-boned them. I'll use the broth and chicken to make some chicken and rice soup for later.

We had pulled pork, potato salad and cole slaw tonight.
Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
busy again, weeding, mowing, raking the field (with the landscape rake and tractor), harvesting turnip greens, and cleaning up the barn. gonna gather mulch from about three acres of grass for winter cover for the garden in the near future.
Supper was a lazy trip to the local dairy bar...cheese burgers tater tots and onion rings, with soft serve cones for desert. Not homemade, but it did hit the spot.

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
We've started school. Got a little late start on it because everyone has been sick, but today the sun is shining and we all appear to be on the mend from that respiratory mess we had. Our garden is pitiful. We lost just about everything to the rain, but we're still harvesting okra and purple hull peas. This week end we're hoping to get some fall crops planted. For supper last night we had barbeque chicken, potatoe salad, purple hull peas and okra. Tonight we'll probably eat out because I have a late afternoon appointment with my pain management doctor.
Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
We have a friend coming for dinner tonight. I'm making ribs, hashbrown casserole and corn. I have banana bread for dessert. It's hot here 93°F with high humidity so everything is being cooked in crockpots.
