It's still been so hot here. The humidity's been up too which has made our air really fight to cool this house. We have kept it set on 70 and it was 80 in the living room last night. Last night was scrambled eggs & pancakes. I don't yet know what we're having tonight.

Thank God we now have power after 6 full days without it. Many in my town still are without and it's in the 100's here.

For dinner we had hamburgers, and for dessert we had fresh strawberries and blueberries with cool whip. It was too hot to fix anything else.

Mountainmama I am so sorry you were without power. That would have been miserable.
Tonight we ordered a pizza & breakdsticks for supper.

We got the black truck up and going. Now we have 3 vehicles for 4 adults. Now they are starting to work on another truck we have sitting here.

We finally got the much needed rain for the garden.

I go Monday to the stomach Dr to find out why I have been getting so sick when I eat. I have not been able to eat very much the last three weeks and last week it got worse.

For dinner we made home made pizzas

Mountain Mamma, I wondered if you had lost power. Glad to see you survived it. Have any of our other members gone through the power outages?

I hope everyone is staying safe in this heat.

For supper we took Tyler to his favorite Japanese steakhouse for his birthday dinner. It's hard to believe my baby is now 14 yrs old.

Spnshine, please wish Tyler a happy birthday for me.

I hope everyone who were in the storms have the power back on. It's hard enough when we have air conditioning but when we have to face this heat without power it's terrible. I remember when Katrina came through and we were without power for almost a week. But we survived it and actually spent time talking instead of watching t.v. Smile

Our garden is almost gone. We're planning to pull the old plants up and plant some more yellow squash, cucumbers, and maybe two beds of peas. About the only thing we're getting from our garden now is tomatoes and a cucumber every once in a while.

This last week we spent getting ready for the yard sale we had Saturday. This week our next to oldest granddaughter, Symanthia is visiting for four days. We plan to take her to Meridian to see her Aunt Lisa one day this week. We will take everyone out to eat to celebrate their birthdays. Lisa's birthday is the 15th, William's is the 23rd, Symanthia's is the 24th and Todd's (Lisa's husband) is the 30th.

Next week if nothing happens we will be getting ready for William's 65th birthday party. I'm planning to grill steak for his party but he wants to go to a restaurant and take everyone out to eat. It would be easier but we won't be able to visit as much at a restaurant as we can at home. I will leave it up to him. After all it's his birthday.

We had chicken pot pie, stewed okra, onions and tomatoes and peas for lunch today. Symanthia got here about lunch time. I knew she'd be hungry so I cooked a big lunch. If we eat anything for dinner it will be sandwiches.

I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed week and those of you needing rain on your gardens, I pray you will get the rain.

MM, I'll be sure to give Ty your birthday wishes. It's hard to believe he's 14 now. He's bigger than Joe and me. I'm so thankful that he has such a sweet and loving spirit.

Went to the doctor today and have some inflamation in my lower back, so he's starting me on a steroid pack. I knew it was hurting, but guess between the barometric pressure yo yoing and the physical activities I have over done it. Hope all of you will keep me in your prayers. I'm trying to prepare my team for a 3 day Kids Krusade and don't have time to be down with my back right now.

Since we were running today with the late doctor's appointment and puppet practice right afterwards we just had ham sandwiches for supper.

Hi everyone Smile

Sonshine please wish Ty "Happy 14th Birthday" from me too.

MM please relay "Happy Birthday" wishes to everyone from me.

We have finally cooled off for a few days but we're heading back up into the 90's by the weekend and all next week. It's funny to hear us say upper 80's is cooled off. My Dh and I went to visit with the neighbors 2 doors over this evening, the weather was absolutely gorgeous until the pesky flies started biting. They are a nice young couple with a 2 yo girl. He's so excited because I helped him start his first garden this year. He's so funny, he comes home from work and heads out to the garden to check on his plants before he even goes inside to see his family.

This week my son is spending the whole week at church for a youth mission project. Today and Friday they are working around the church on different projects. Tuesday they are going to a Resale Mission Store to help sort donations. Wednesday is fun day, they are going caneing. Thursday they are going to help pack meal voxes for the needy at a food pantry/warehouse. I love how our youth pastor schedules this for the week, we drop them off on Sunday evening and pick them back up Saturday morning. Smile

Well, I've got to go check on the chocolate zucchini bread I've got in the oven. I hope you all have a great week and I'll be praying for you all.

Sonshine, I'm sorry to hear your back has gotten inflamed again. I hope the steroids will help. Will sure keep you in my prayers.

Patrice, I will pass your birthday wishes on too my folks. That's just four of the July birthdays. Our next to oldest grandson and our youngest granddaughter have birthdays on the same day (July 2nd), my Stepfather's bd is July 4th and our former son-in-law has one on July 7th. July is a busy month for us as far as birthdays go. LOL

We just got a nice little shower. That's four days straight that we've gotten showers. Not heavy rain just a slow one for anywhere from fifteen minutes up to thirty minutes. We need a lot more but this helps.

We've stayed inside for most of the day. Symanthia is still at her Aunt Sandi's. I'm expecting her back in a little while.

For dinner tonight we're having roast, mashed potatoes, butterbeans, corn and cornbread.

I have been sorting recipes & books today and wound up with a big pile to advertise on the for sale/trade forum. I want to declutter as much as possible. I also have been looking at ideas for Christmas gifts to make. I figure if I get started now maybe I'll actually accomplish something this year. In doing that I then had to go through my fabric and find what I had that was homespun, flannel or any kind that would "rag" well. Then that got me to finding more rag quilted items that I can make and maybe sell on Etsy. It's a never ending cycle!
I also have a meeting tonight at the church so I won't be home for dinner but I did cook ravioli and have it in the slow cooker for the guys.

MM, forgot to tell you to send this lil ole clown's birthday wishes to your loved ones.

Patrice, I'll share your birthday wishes with Ty. I still have problems believing he's 14.

Kerrig, I saw the items you listed in the barter forum. I saw some items I would like to get, but it will have to wait till next week. We've got a full week this week and Joe is going to be gone this weekend. So if you still have the items next week I'll give you a list of what I would like. Looking through the list I noticed you like some of the same authors as I do. I love Ted Dekker and Frank Perriti, although the books you have by them I already have. You do have other books I'm interested in though.

Since we had our first half of our clown training classes tonight we just had a quick supper or homemade vegetable soup.

Ah, so you're a country girl at heart! Smile Well, I ended up running errands and didn't get the pinto beans cooking on time, so we made homemade pizza instead and we'll have the beans and cornbread for tomorrow night. Oh well. That saves me from cooking tomorrow night.

Mountain Mamma,
I grew up in the midwest in the city, but both of my parents are country southerners, so I grew up eating beans and taters. Smile Of course, we always had cornbread and sweet tea with them, plus green onions and fresh sliced tomatoes.

I made it thru the testing for my stomach. They said my stomach was fine but my lower intestines were red so they took a biopsy. I have to wait 7 to 10 days to find out the results. So far I can eat ice cream and cheese with out getting sick.

We are getting plenty of rain so our garden is taking off. Hubby has to go by and look at a bee job this afternoon. Hoping it is one of those easy ones where he can just vaccum them up since it is under a porch.

For dinner we are having lettuce wraps with chicken and vegetables.

I worked this morning with my client, came home and ate lunch then did the dishes & have been doing laundry also. I am also ironing all my material for sewing so that I can stack it neatly and coordinate by color.
I know this sounds crazy but at this time of year I always start longing for Fall. So tonight we are going to have homemade pizza & a pumpkin cake for dessert.

Amy, I pray your test results come back ok.
Sonshine, clown classes sound like fun.

My girls are both going to camp next week. I won't know what to do with myself. I hope to get some sewing done, though.

Post by Mississippi Momma Fri Jul 13, 2012 10:57 am

I hope everyone is doing alright tonight. We have been getting rain most of the day and the way it looked this morning when I got up we had rain most of the night. No complaints from the hollow. I'm so thankful for this rain that I'm doing a happy dance.

We went to Meridian to have our lunch with some of our children and one of the grandchildren today. We enjoyed the time we had with all of them. Wish all the children and the grands could have been there.

We had BLTs for dinner. Didn't need a lot after the lunch that we had even though I did eat the soup and salad.

I think in the morning we are going to some yard sales and tomorrow afternoon a moving sale. William has decided to put his name on the list for a booth at a flea market just outside of Meridian. If he does this we're going to have to keep it stocked.

We bought two watermelons today. I'm going to try dehydrating part of one and then make watermelon preserves out of the inside of the rinds. It's been a long time since I've made the preserves.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Post by kerrig Fri Jul 13, 2012 6:45 pm

mountainmama-I have several different projects on my list. That's my problem, too many to finish any of them! Lol.
I have a quilt on the rack that I'm handquilting for my daughter-first one I've ever done so it's not the prettiest. I am crocheting an afghan for our bed, been working on it for 2 years but am steadily working on it now. Then I have Christmas gifts that I want to make: Sleep pants for dh, son-n-law, and boys, puse/scarf for my sister, mother-n-law & daughter, remote control pillows for my dad and father-n-law. Some rag-quilted items for my brothers and their families.
I have been wanting to have a way to make extra $ from here at home. I work three mornings a week with a home health agency as a homemaker for the elderly-run errands for them, take them to doctors, grocery shopping, clean their house, be company for them. But it is paying just enough to help a little with the bills. Dh works overtime all the time, has for 9 of the 10 years he's been at this plant. With the economy though we are blessed to be able to pay our bills and the necessities but we are really wanting to get out of debt by the time the boys are out of high school which gives us 3 years. So I thought that if I made some rag-quilted things I would advertise them on Etsy. Maybe be able to make a little that we don't count on for anything else to apply to those.

Well, Joe left for Florida this morning. He'll be back Monday. I worked some on puppet costumes and have started crocheting a hat for my clown costume. Not sure what happened to my other one, but can't seem to find it. For supper Ty and I just fixed a couple of frozen pizzas.

Last night I made a cosmetic bag that turned out really cute. I'll make some more to sell.

We finally got some rain! That was a welcome sight (except that we lost power again for a while when a tree fell and knocked down some lines.)

I might make breakfast for dinner tonight.

William went on a day trip with his friend, Robert. They went to Prattville, Alabama to shop a big flea market. William bought a desk and chair and a salt and pepper shaker to add to my collection. The desk and chair we'll probably try to resell.

I had the day to myself. I got a lot of housework accomplished while he was gone. We had a thunderstorm and a good bit of rain today. I gathered the yellow tommy toes and the jalapena before the rain set in.

We are feeding Trinity's animals while she's gone to the beach for a few days. She has a dog that's still just a puppy but he is a big puppy. Yesterday he ran into my knee and I don't know what he did but my knee feels like someone is stabbing it. She forgot to mention the dog so I wasn't prepared for him.

For dinner we had Boudain baked with onions and jalapenos.
