Amybyrd, how is the dialysis working? Hope you are doing better.
Today was an uneventful day. For supper we had leftovers. I always cook too much on the holidays.

Today was my first day back at work, nice to get back into the "normal routine"
My wife has healed enough to be able to tend to her own needs, and the last few days I was off were more vacation like as she tried to get back to being her old self. Gotta love a spirit like that!!
Lunch was roast beef and noodles. (with gravy and iced tea of course)

Dinner tonight is going to be lasagna. My son and I went to the store last night to get the cheeses we'll need for it. I don't have any big plans for the day. It's a bit nippy out so I'll probably be inside except for when I'm taking care of chickens. :0)

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
Sonshine I will find out my test results on Thursday. So far it is doing good at home. Some days I wake up thirsty and dried out but other than that we are adjusting to it good.
Today is grocery shopping day and I am waiting for a phone call from my social security worker.
Fir dinner I think we are having taco salads per Wesley's request.

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
Hi everyone!
Glad to hear your dialysis is working well for you at home Amy.
Keith, glad to hear your wife is on the mend.
My back has been really bothering me since last Friday, I haven't done a whole lot of anything. Both my son and I have had some intestinal issues after eating at White Castle last Friday afternoon and ever since then my back has been really bad. I think part of my back problem is intestinal cramping. When I had my hysterectomy years ago, I had a problem with scar tissue and my intestines were adhered to my abdominal wall and everything else inside the abdominal cavity. They cleaned out the scar tissue but I have a feeling it has grown back and is much worse now.
I did manage to get over to Aldi last week for some berry bushes and a lilac for the front yard. I couldn't believe the prices of the plants at Aldi. I got 4 blackberry bushes and 4 red raspberry bushes for $5.99 each. 1 blackberry may be going back though because it isn't sprouting and the cashier said I have 60 days to return it. The lilac was 8.99 for a really nice size plant. My son and I planted the lilac yesterday but I'm waiting until next week to put in the berry bushes. We are supposed to have some really cold nights this week and I'm still unsure as to where in the back yard I want to plant them.
I'm trying to get a good supply of fruit plants set up in my garden. So far I have~~~~ a semi-dwarf Royal Empire apple tree and a dwarf Braeburn apple tree, a semi-dwarf Red Haven peach tree, 3 different blueberry bushes, and now add the blackberries and raspberries. I'm running out of room in the back yard and I don't particularly want to plant any fruit in the front yard.
I still need to get the garden cleaned out and start some of my vegetable seeds. I really need to get my tomato, cabbage and pepper plants started this week. The weather has been so goofy that I haven't really tried hard to force myself out to the garden yet.
Well, I hope you all have a blessed week and I'll check back in when I can.

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
Tonight I'm trying a new recipe that uses a bear bread mix but turns it into biscuits with sausage and cheese baked in them. I've also got a broccoli and rice casserole in the oven and we'll have some corn with it as well.
It warmed up a bit and ended up being a pleasant day. I'm a bit worried tonight because the crops on the 3 chicks I had dumped off at my house have swollen back up. These 3 lil chickies have really given me a run for my money. At this point, I'm not even certain if they will be fit even for the dinner table. I'm going to keep trying though.
Good evening and God bless everyone ~~

Plain Folk, that recipe sounds awesome.
I had my final injection today, next one shouldn't be till 6 more months. When I get the injections I'm usually not able to do anything for a day or two, so I've spent the day on the couch. Joe did get my loofah and morninglories planted.
For supper we're just getting subs from subway.

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
Went to the Dr today. My iron, red blood cells and potassium are still really low. I got an infusion of iron and a shot of something called epo to boost my red blood cells. It made me feel really bad this afternoon.
We got Wesley a new bed so I have to go shopping for full sheets tomorrow. He is so excited that he gets a bigger bed.
For dinner I made Cream Beef and french fries.

Amy, I hope you are feeling better today. I know how drained you can feel with low iron, I battle with that all the time. I'll keep praying for you.
Sonshine, I hope you are feeling better with no ill affects from your injection.
I hope all the rest of you are doing well.
I'm battling exhaustion, my psoriatic arthritis is flaring up again as well as the psoriasis starting up again. I have been in a great deal of pain for the past week from the arthritis in my lower back.
I find I am having to push my self to get anything accomplished at this point. I did manage to get my 3 new blackberry bushes planted this afternoon but I gave up on trying to get the raspberries done today. I was hoping to get them all planted as we are supposed to get 4 days of heavy rain. I figured that would help to get them established, but oh well there's always next week. I may try to have my son help me dig the 4 holes for the raspberries after school if it isn't raining by then. We'll see if I feel any better by then.
I have a baby shower to attend tomorrow for a friend of our's daughter and SIL, they are expecting their 1st child, they found out it's a boy. While I'm out that way, I want to hit the K-Mart store closing clearance sale again for a couple of things I should have picked up on Wednesday when my sister and I were there. I'm going to pick up the expensive calculator my son needs for high school next year, it was 20% off. I'll just get it an put it away until August when he needs it for school. I find it stupid that they need a $100+ calculator for Algebra and half the kids can't do simple math in their heads.
Dinner is going to be spaghetti and garlic bread tonight. I have a taste for it and I always make too much so I don't have to cook the following day.
Well, I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend! I'll pop back on when I have a chance.

Today I lucked up on a meat sale. So I spent the afternoon dividing meat and putting it in the freezer. I also got Wesley bedding for his new bed. Now I hope he sleeps on it with out any problems.
For dinner I grilled chicken and pork loin. (That was part of what I got on sale )

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
Patrice, I'm sorry your arthritis is acting up and I hope you feel much better tomorrow. Mine's been awful lately too, so I'm wondering if the weather has something to do with that.
One of our hens laid her first egg today. For some reason, that very first egg always seems special, like a little gift for us and a proud accomplishment for the hen. This is our last "big" girl of our three older hens. The chicks won't lay for several months yet.
Dinner tonight was a pot of veggie soup and Mexican cornbread.

I hope everyone who has been sick are feeling better.
Mountain Momma, yes, the first egg always seems special. It never ceases to amaze me how well God provides for us through our animals and gardens.
For supper we just had burgers and fries.

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
Hello everyone. I'm checking in at the library.
The barn raising didn't go off as planned and has been put off for another week. First the screws I had gotten were not long enough, then the saw no longer works (I'm picking up a hand saw next Monday - that I know I can use and I won't be using any power either), and then the screws I went back to get were the right length but didn't have the bit in the box like was supposed to be there so the whole thing got put on hold until this coming Sunday. Oh well, it is what it is.
I'm missing the internet at home a little but I'm getting used to it. I can stop at the library on my way home, check in here and check my e-mails and do any research I have to do and still be home by 2:30 and have the rest of my day.
The weather is getting nicer here and I'm getting anxious to get my garden going. I'm going to use the Back to Eden method of using mushroom soil, wood chips and a sprinkling of cow manure in my pallet raised beds. I can't wait to get plants in. I never did get any seeds to start but that's okay, I'm going to stop at the greenhouse on the way home and see what they have and make sure they're not GMO's and just get them there this year. The other seeds I will order from Baker Creek next Monday.
Hope everyone is feeling better and that you all have a good week. I'll stop in at the library and check in on Wednesday.

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
Backtotheland, good to hear from you. Sorry your barn raising didn't go as planned, but sounds like you're on the right track now.
Today I managed to get out in my herb garden and do some much needed weeding. I thought I had lost my oregano, but it was just hidden from all the weeds. It's spread nicely so I should have plenty for our use and to share with neighbors.
We're suppose to get rain tomorrow, which we really need. It'll be interesting to see how my back does. Usually when the rain gets as close as it is right now I'm incapacitated, but so far, I'm having a bit of pain, but not to the degree I usually do.
For supper we just had hotdogs, pork and beans and potatoe chips.

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
Glad you oregano is doing good Sonshine. Also glad your not in as much pain as usual.
We planted our peas, onions, and beets today. Then I made trellises for the peas. I have never grown my peas on trellises before but decided to try it this year. I also plan to trellis my cucumbers.
We had a sausage dinner today that my daughter cooked outside in the dutch oven. It included potatoes, onion, carrots and cabbage. Very yummy with homemade rye bread. We also had mint tea made from her herb garden.

Rohn, I love polish sausage cooked with potatoes, onions, carrots and cabbage!!
My mint is doing really well. Reading about the mint tea has made me want some. Guess tomorrow I'll harvest some mint.

Thanks Sonshine. Today I managed to get the boards all cut for the framing of the walls using my friend Jackie's jig saw. Tomorrow I'm going to try to get the framing done for the chicken brooder. I got called in to work today or it would have been done today.
Well, off to make the flowers for my daughter's wedding gown. I'll check in tomorrow from the library.

Hi Everyone. I'm sorry to hear some of you are feeling so poorly. Amy, I hope things are going better for you and that you're feeling better.
Patrice, I am hoping that your pain has lessened and that you are feeling better.
Sonshine, it's good to hear that you are feeling up to working in your herb garden. That's the one thing we don't have done yet. The rosemary, chives and oregano are there as I leave them each winter but no basil (my favorite) or sage yet.
Backtotheland I hope your barn is coming along. We use pallets for a lot of our building. My husband goes around and picks up the pallets left out for garbage collection. Sure saves us a lot of money.
I got to cook breakfast and lunch today. For lunch we had fresh collard greens, rice, baked ham and corn. For dinner we had sandwiches and fruits.
I hope you all will have a wonderful Wednesday. May God bless each of you/

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
We finally got some much needed rain today. May be we can till now that the ground is softer.
When I went to the Dr this week they told me my iron was up from 13 to 17. It is supposed to be 30 to 50. I am taking shots to up my red blood cells and taking iron once a week thru IV. The days I get iron are not good days. By the afternoon I feel sluggish. I go Friday to Nashville for another Dr appt and then next tuesday to my kidney dr. We are hoping one of them will give me the right medication to cure these problems.
For dinner we had breakfast.

Amy, I hope they get your iron levels up where they should be. I pray that God will give the doctors wisdom on how to treat your conditions.
We're expecting rain tomorrow and my body is telling me about it. I can't complain much though, it's not as bad as usual and it didn't hit me as quick as it has. Usually I start feeling the affects of bad weather even when it's as far away as Texas.
Today we met with the Pastor's wife about our ideas for Children's Church. Our Children's Church name is Splash and I'm going to start a series called Submarine Days. First couple of lessons will be on Jonah. The church has told us we can have unlimited funds to decorate the Children's Church, so Joe and I have been coming up with design ideas. A week from Saturday we'll have a workday and have some of the Church members help us get it all built and set up. I'll try to get Joe to get pictures so all of you can see it.
For supper we had spaghetti and meat sauce, garlic bread and salad.

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
Sonshine, you sound so happy when you talk about your Children's Church ministries. We don't have any children in our worship group at all, just us old folks.
I'm finding it is really not all that inconvient to not have the internet at home. I drive right by the library every day and I can always stop in and check.
I had to go into work at 6:00 a.m. this morning due to a family emergency and while I was at work my office called me and they have another patient for me but he will only be one day a week for four hours so I can either do him at the beginning of Tuesday or at the end of Wednesday. That will bring me up to 34 hours but there is so much going at the family where I am now that I'm almost afraid to say I will take the other one because if my family needs me I want to be available. I'm going to talk to the office about it when I get home.
Last night I went up to my daughter's future MIL's and we worked on the flowers for the bottom of her gown. Lexy wants this dress done by the 12th of May but I'm not seeing it. I may just have a Bridezilla on my hands. Oh well, this is the dress she wanted.
The weather has turned chilly again. Monday it was 90 degrees and now it is maybe 60. Oh well, just Spring in Upstate New York.
I'm going to see if the lady I'm buying the goats from can keep them for me until the 17th of June (the day after the wedding). With what is going on at work with this family and the wedding I think it will be better for the poor goats to wait untilthe 17th of June.
I was going to order chicks on line but someone told me of a place locally that is selling sexed chicks for $3.00 a piece. I want 18 hens and 2 roosters and with the money I would save in shipping I will probably get them there. Hopefully I can get there to get them next week.
I'll check in over the week-end if not before.

Today I really haven't done anything. It's raining and I'm not able to do much. I have been doing some research on my upcoming lessons in Children's Church.
Tonight we're having breakfast for supper. Sausage grave, biscuits, scambled eggs and home fries.
