Good Movies
Not really a "read", but I wanted to share just the same. I have been watching some of Kirk Cameron's movies that are now available on Netflix as instant view. They are both quite excellent and you should watch them if you have a chance.
The first one is called "Unstoppable". http://www.godtube.com/watch/?v=WWKGYLNX (I think this is a free download. I watched it on Netflix)
It covers the tough subject about why bad things happen to good people. It is most excellent.
The second one I watched is called "Monumental". http://monumentalmovie.com/
It is all about the pilgrims that founded our country and the truths that have been forgotten along the way. Very good and really makes you aware of the sacrifices that people went through to have religious freedom and to found our country.
Both are must watches in my opinion and have a good Christian message.

Re: Good Movies
I am sure you would like it!
Hubby still hasn't seen "Unstoppable" because he thought it would be depressing, because of the subject matter. Actually it was very uplifting and left me with tears in my eyes.

I haven't had a chance to watch either of those, but I do like Cameron. He does a lot of good stuff.
Netflix also has a lot of movies made by Pureflix. I have watched several of their movies, and have liked all of the ones I have seen.

I watched a good movie on youtube. It's a Hallmark movie called The Valley of Light (I think.) Fireproof and Courageous are excellent movies.

Re: Good Movies
Since this is a movie thread I thought I would post a NOT good movie review here as well.
Last night my hubby and my Geek son went to a movie together, so I thought I would relax and watch a movie too. I watched the newer movie with Russel Crow in it called "Noah".
Rest assured I was not anticipating a movie with a good Bible story, but Wow.
Just Wow.
The movie was decent as a science fiction work. Acting was good. Special effects everything that you would expect from Hollywood. The stone monsters that were supposed to be fallen angels and who actually built the ark for Noah and his family were well done computer graphics.
What? You mean YOU didn't read that stone monster fallen angels are who really built the ark? Really?
MEEE neither!
I also had no idea that there was a big battle, fought valiantly by Noah against the bad sinners to keep them out of his ark. Oh and the part where two of the brothers Ham and Japieth had no wives until Shem's wife had twin daughters. Oh also... what page in the Bible is the stow away on the ark - the evil king hidden and helped by Ham - told about?
Not in the Bible you say?
Good thing we have Hollywood writer to fix that for us! Everyone knows that the story - as actually told in the Bible - might be boring. !!!
Let's see now.
A God that is so loving that even after we sinners nearly destroy everything that He created, STILL LOVES us so much that he saves the only family that still honors Him. He miraculously causes animals to come and take shelter in the ark. He closes the door with His own hand and protects them throughout world destruction. He blesses them with safety and loving care and a lasting promise, so that they can repopulate the entire world. Boring and in need of a re-write? Nope.
Thank GOD for who He is and ALL He has done for us. Amen.

Re: Good Movies
I had heard it wasn't good from several people, I definitely won't be wasting my $$ on seeing it.

Re: Good Movies
Does not sound like something I'd want to watch, either.
I recall watching a cartoon once of David and Goliath. They showed David running away, then reaching down and picking up a stone. That's not how it happened in my Bible! There was a reason he picked up 5 stones. I HATE it when people rewrite the Bible.

Re: Good Movies
Two of my favorite old movies are "It Happened on Fifth Avenue" and "Merrily We Live." I think they are black and white movies, but they are so funny.
