coconut oil for alzheimers?
Hubby found this article, and I'll admit I was intrigued. I also thought of Patrice and the problems she's having w/her hubby. Has anyone else heard any of this?

Yes I have heard about it. In my opinion what does it hurt to try? Try anything and everything that doesn't have bad side effects. Maybe some combination will help.

hmm
I can see potential here, based on what is said about the brain using keytones produced from the coconut oil. We are just now re-discovering Gods gifts of nutrition and whole foods, so I believe anything is possible, and worth a try, nutrition wise anyway.

Very interesting. We use Coconut oil because of its health benefits. It is always better to eat healthy stuff.

Re: coconut oil for alzheimers?
I have read that article before and that is when I started using coconut oil. However my dh won't eat anything except cold cereal and pbj sandwiches as a meal so I can't get it into him any longer.
I remember seeing some research that said that coconut oil was the oil of choice prior to WWII and then the US needed to create income opportunities thus the shortening/vegetable oil production began. People who consumed the coconut oil didn't have as many health issues as we do now.
My oils of choice are coconut, extra virgin olive oil, lard and occasionally peanut for high temp frying. I also ONLY use real butter no margarine.

I don't use margarine either. I have some shortening and vegetable oil right now, but I won't buy more.

I keep shortening for seasoning cast iron and my grill grates.
