OK anybody out there have a good way to extract apple or pear juice for cider or juice without spending a million dollars on a fruit press?

some 4 x 4 timbers, a hydraulic jack, and a whiskey barrel. Cut several layers of 3/4 inch plywood to fit into the whiskey barrel, build a frame out of 4 x 4 timbers, including a short piece on top of the ply wood layers. Use the jack to crush the fruit, then screen and filter as desired

ooh not really...unless you quarter and core the apples then shred them, but pressing would still be difficult at best

I'm sure it would work. And I seem to recall seeing those round pieces of wood w/the groove in them for sale someplace, I just can't think of where.

yup, that's basically what I was thinking about with the 4 x 4 timbers. Drop the table to it's lowest level, and use wood blocks to keep the ram out of the apple stuff
