How to grow your own Persimmon tree
With all the expressed wishes to have or find a persimmon tree around here lately I thought I would post this information. I plan to try to propagate a few more trees, and I am willing to share the seeds I harvest this fall (if I can beat the deer to them). I would ask that who ever wants seeds pay the cost of shipping. I will pack them in moist potting soil, inside a zip lock bag, and send via USPS flat rate shipping (about 7 bucks).

Of course if you can find a couple of ripe fruits you won't need to worry with having a box shipped to you.
(best time for the harvesting is late fall, after a good frost)

I don't think I have ever eaten persimmons or anything made from them. Those are two interesting articles though. I'd take you up on the offer if I had a place to plant them.

One thing you want to remember w/persimmon is that there are both male and female trees. Plus, they grow quite tall, so it can be hard to harvest the fruit.
