Burlap sacks for .75 at atwoods makes great ornaments.  Cut your shapes stuff and sew (stars, snowmen, crosses, mangers, anything pretty much), glitter, add buttons, pom poms or anything you have around.  Cut strips and make awesome bows.  Add a little glitter for them to pop.  Also great stockings from burlap.  For $3.00 I  made most of our Christmas décor for this season and everyone thinks it looks awesome.

Sounds cute, I love the inexpensive aspect! I'm into the natural decor this year too.

I'm not putting up my tree this year but have vases of real pine branches set out. I'm adding little red ornaments, flocked pine cones and snowflakes to the branches to add a pop of color. I may add a bow to the large vase just to give it that little extra touch. Wink

It's fun to try different things and when it doesn't cost much it is even more fun!

My wife found some clear plastic blubs for the kiddos to paint, and she is going to help them make some playdoe ornaments too.

One ornament I've made in my 4-H club is super cheap and easy to make. You get 2" sand dollars, some old magazines or catalogs, decoupage glue, ribbon and glitter. You put the ribbon thru a hole at the top, then decoupage a pic on it and add glitter.

I remember letting the kids paint/glitter plastic bulbs when they were young. For about 10 years we had a plastic bulb and red ribbon tree. Smile Much safer for the kiddo's. Dizzy, I think that would make some really pretty ornaments.

There's so many things you can use to make homemade ornaments. Ty does a new one each year to send to grandparents. He's done salt dough, sleds made out of popcycle stickes, felt ones, the old lightbulbs, which he made a snowman head from, pinecones and acorns. There's just so many things you can do and it's fun making up things to make with what you have on hand, or search online for them.
