Please help me save my peach tree

Please help me save my peach tree
I planted a semi-dwarf Red Haven peach tree in the Spring and it has been growing nicely. Today a gust of wind knocked a sheet of plywood down that peeled the bark off the entire length of the tree's trunk. It is peeled very deeply down to the center of the tree. I can see the bark layer, a layer of green growth and the center heart of the trunk. Is there something I can do to save the tree?

Do you have a nursery close by? They may have some type of sealant that can be used if it's not too far gone.

I'll go out tomorrow to the one down the road from here and ask them for something, they are closed already.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Please help me save my peach tree
Let me know what you find out. We have a couple of peach trees we planted last year, so it would be nice to know what to do if we run into a similar problem.

The place down the road is closed, gone out of business.
I think I'm going to just try wrapping some double layered paper bag around the trunk and then go over the paper bag with some wet and stick packaging tape (the paper type). Just something to protect the damaged area without restricting the growth or that will hold too much water near the trunk, kind of like a sleeve.

That might work. My concern is if the bark is gone all the way around then the sap will leak out leaving it too dry to survive. I'll try to do some research and see if I can find anything that might help.
