P.S. thanks you 12acrehome for telling me about Victory Seeds last year. I get to order from them then, but I remembered them this year

Re: Victory seeds, Mine are on their way!
I hope you like them as much as I do. Please do let us know your experience with them.
For anyone else who is curious, here's a link

What attracted me to them in the first place is the "safe seed pledge" they signed.
We are an early signer of the Safe Seed Pledge
All of our rare and heirloom seeds are open-pollinated, non-hybrid and are not treated with chemicals.

Re: Victory seeds, Mine are on their way!
I have come to find out the seed quality plays a BIG role in yield. After the poor yields I have had in the past I found the all of my best crops came from seeds that did not come from a big box store, so I have decided to only buy from quality sources.
Re: Victory seeds, Mine are on their way!
Well I placed my order on Wednesday, and my seeds arrived on Saturday. There was also a hand written note on the packing slip that read "Thank you, and blessings to you and yours!"
I am very happy with the service, and can't wait to see how well the seeds produce. I have already started the tomatoes and peppers in the house.
God bless,
Chad

Re: Victory seeds, Mine are on their way!
I've got to reseed mine yet, still not feeling well enough to mess with them.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. Spring time ailments seem to be the worst. Feel better soon.
Re: Victory seeds, Mine are on their way!
Thanks Keith. This is a nasty little bug/allergies, I just can't seem to shake it. I need to repot my tomatoes and peppers this week too, they are getting leggy on me.

Same here. I'm hoping to do some tomatoes this afternoon. And some died. I don't know if I need to plant more or not. I have to figure out how many I have left.

Re: Victory seeds, Mine are on their way!
Well, so far I couldn't be happier with my seeds. I had a slight issue with my first planting of tomatoes, but that was my fault. Otherwise everything has came up great, most of all my cucumbers, they are doing great. All of the packages contained more seed than promised, and the germination times seem to be quicker than advertised. So I am very pleased so far. I will keep you posted as the season grows on.
God bless,
Chad

Re: Victory seeds, Mine are on their way!
So I have been meaning to update everyone on how each of these seeds did, and how everything turned out. I am still learning, and it was my first year on a new property so I made a few mistakes, but here is how my Victory seeds turned out.
3250541 Charentais Cantaloupe- These I planted in the wrong place. They did not get enough sun and did not produce.
3090161 Kuroda Carrot- These carrots produced great. i planted the in a cardboard box full of loose soil, and only planted about half of them. i got about 3 pounds of carrots. I will be building a box and planting more this year.
3140083 Stowell's Evergreen Sweet Corn- This produced a lot of corn! I bought 1/4 lb of seed. I planted most of it, and saved about 2/3 of it for replant. I didn't have to replant much. It produced 60 lb of corn. However, we do not care much for the taste. It is really bland, and I will NOT plant this again this year.
3210041 Dwarf Siberian Improved Kale- I should have planted more of this. It produced well, (not sure how much exactly) and has a good taste. I left some in the garden to go to seed and replant itself, but will also be buying more to plant a bigger patch. This was a big hit with the whole family.
3240211 Cimmaron Romaine Lettuce- I must have planted this in too much shade or maybe a rabbit got it or something. It sprouted good, but didn't turn out much at all. What we did get was alright, but I think I will try something different this year. Dad says there is probable a reason nobody around here grows Romaine Lettuce, maybe it just doesn't do good here. He might be right.
3310031 Golden California Wonder Bell Pepper- I could not get these to sprout. Dad says it is hard to start peppers from seeds. I may try again sometime, but this year I am just going to get plants for the hot house down the road.
3370021 Dwarf Summer Crookneck Squash- These were a big hit too. My girls loved them. I only planted a few last year, but this year I will plant several.
3401881 Orange Heirloom Tomato- Last year was a bad year for tomatoes for me. I only had a couple of verities that turned out. These tasted good, but did not produce very many maters at all.
3400711 Gold Nugget Tomato- These were the stars of my tomato crop they produced lots and lots, and other than a strangely tough skin they taste great. I would eat half a dozen or so every time I went into the garden. I will plant these again this year, but not as many as I did last year. They set on so fast it is hard to eat them, or even give them away. I will only plant a couple this year.
3401371 Extreme Bush Tomato- For some reason these started off as the healthiest looking tomato plants in my garden, but the grew really slow, and started to die off before they really started to set on. I am not sure what happened. I will NOT be planing them again.
3160161 Boston Pickling Improved Cucumber- I did not like these cucumbers. They produced fine, and tasted fine, but they are too small, and fill out with seeds too fast for my liking. Nothing wrong with them, just not what I wanted. I will NOT be replanting them.
Even though looking back it seems like most of what I thought was negative. You must take into account that I am still trying to find the verities that fit me and my family, homestead the best. So I am still in the trail and error phase of switching from the GMO junk I have always grown to the heirloom goodness I know is out there.
God bless,
Chad
P.S. I will be making my order for this year in the next couple of weeks, and I will post it up when I do.

Victory Seeds sent me a 2015 seed catalog, and it has a coupon code to save 5% if you order online, good until 12-31-2015. The code is "save5in15" For anyone else who is ordering through them.
Re: Victory seeds, Mine are on their way!

Re: Victory seeds, Mine are on their way!
I made my order for this year. I ordered everything listed above, except I decided to go with Jubilee Tomatoes instead of the Delicious Tomatoes. I already have seed for Brandywine Tomatoes, so I decided I didn't need another red verity so I went with the yellow Jubilees.
Other than that I have stuck with the plan.

Sounds like you've got a good plan and a great head start on your garden for this year. I'm sitting here with 20+" of snow on the ground and dreaming of the day I can actually SEE my garden again.
