Re: Your 2014 Garden Plans
Wanted to update on our garden. It is doing much better than I ever expected and I only attribute that to the Lord. He grows it, not me.
I planted late and took a chance on broccoli & cabbage as it gets really hot here. They are both doing great. My tomatoes are finally growing and I noticed yesterday that one is starting to ripen. I've got cucumbers and zucchini that are doing well. My spaghetti squash are nice too. I noticed yesterday that I have one pumpkin growing. I'm anxious to see if our corn and beans do anything. It's really wet here as we had storms yesterday but if we don't get any more rain this week then I'm going to till again at the end of the week and get the rest of the garden put out for Fall. I did get my sweet potato slips planted last week but then we got a heavy rain and I don't know if they're going to do anything or not.
If I get to plant at the end of the week I'm putting out: More green beans and corn, beets, turnips, okra, Hutterite soup beans, carrots.

Re: Your 2014 Garden Plans
Glad to here the update! It is not too late to be planting still. I often keep planting things until the end of July. I often have better luck with my late garden than I do an early one as well.
God does richly bless us with our produce. I am happy you are seeing such good results.

Yes, it's funny but every time I've not gotten my garden out the first time until July it always does better. I'm hoping for a really good Fall garden. I'm going to try peas as well. I know it's kind of late for them but our growing season usually runs kind of late. There are times we can grow into October.

Yep keep planting until the end of July, most things should mature in enough time.
I'll be starting my cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower within the next week or so. I might also plant more carrots if I can find some place to put them. Don't forget to plant your garlic in the Fall for harvest next summer.

Re: Your 2014 Garden Plans
I never planted peas this spring, just didn't have the time. So, I'm hoping to get them going at the end of July, beginning of August at the latest. I'll be growing them on the same trellis I'll be growing my other vine crops.
I'm also thinking of trying some broccoli and cauliflower, and maybe even try some potatoes in a container.
