MM, I hope you heal quickly. Glad to hear Todd and Lisa are doing ok. I hope you sell out at the flea market. BTW, my garden didn't do well this year either.

My garden isn't doing the greatest either. I was late getting stuff in.
Hope your knee feels better soon. I chipped my knee cap when I was 12. Not fun at all.

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
I come to you tonight asking for prayers for a member of our family once again. Our granddaughter Meagen (Lisa and Todd's daughter) has blood clots in her arm. She's been having some pain in her upper arm so she went to the doctor today and he sent her to the ER. After some tests they found she has blood clots. She's only 27. So young to be dealing with both parents fighting cancer and now she has to fight her own battle with illness. Your prayers will be so appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

Do they have any idea as to what's causing them? I'll be praying.

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
Dizzy, Meagen has polycystic ovarian disease and the doctor put her on birth control pills until Meagen can have surgery or if she decides to have surgery to remove the cysts. The ER doc said the birth control pills caused the blood clots. This may be TMI but that's what is causing the clots. Thank you all for the prayers. I haven't heard from her this morning. They didn't get home until about midnight last night so I figure they are trying to sleep if Lisa slept any at all. She probably stayed up watching Meagen. Also, Lisa is in the middle of a chemo treatment.
Thank you all for the prayers.

I really haven't decided what to do for dinner tonight. I have some chicken thawing but I think I have a virus. I feel YUCKY!!!!! I had planned to make some foil packets with chicken, potatoes and carrots in them. Then steam some brussel sprouts to go with it but I really don't care where we eat or not right now. DH will eat a p'nut butter sandwich or there's a couple of frozen dinners in the freezer he can have one of those. I'm seriously thinking about laying down.

I will be praying for your family and for you. You have all been under a lot of stress right now.
Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
Sorry you've been feeling yucky, Mississippi Momma. Get well soon!
Dd1 is still about the same with her illness. She will not be attending college this fall, but she is trusting the Lord and tries to stay cheerful. Dd2 starts school Monday, her first day of high school.

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
MM I hate your daughter didn't get to go to college this year. I pray things turn around for her and she gets to go maybe next semester.
Meagen is better. The doctor told her she could go back to work tomorrow. She spent the weekend in bed. Something she really needed to do anyway. She is a night owl and doesn't sleep much. She is pushing herself and it's showing.
Todd took his first radiation treatment today. Lisa said he made it alright. His chemo tablets came in the mail today also. I don't know when he will be starting those.
Lisa has had a rough weekend and Monday with nausea and headaches. She went to work today and had to come home. She was so sick to her stomach that she couldn't see her patients. She called me crying. She said she was supposed to be taking care of Todd and Meagen and she couldn't do that. I told her to take care of herself and they will be fine. She made her momma cry too. It hurts not to be able to help her. I checked on her a little while ago and she said she was still sick to her stomach but maybe is a little better.
I'm cooking pinto beans (dry ones), baked chicken and instant potatoes for dinner tonight. My DH loves instant potatoes. I'm not too crazy about them but I will admit they are easier than having to peel potatoes and cook them. LOL He also really likes canned biscuits better than homemade biscuits. Now this I question. HA! I guess we all have our likes and dislikes.

I'll admit to loving the flaky biscuits. Don't know if it would really be possible to easily make them or not.

DW has a way of making instant potatoes taste really good, not like real mashed potatoes but close.
Until recently I admit I liked canned biscuits, but something seems to have changed with them lately. They taste different and don't seem to keep very long. They last 4 pack burst open within a week of being purchased.

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
We had several really nice, cool mornings here in Mississippi this last week. One morning the temp was 53 and the humidity was all but nonexistent. I loved have the front door open and letting cool air in.....However all good things must end...Today it is hot again and the humidity is awful. But I enjoyed the nice weather while it lasted.
I hope you all are doing well and enjoy nice weather. Also, having a good weekend.
Lisa and Todd are doing pretty good. Lisa goes next Wednesday for her next treatment and Todd has handled the radiation well along with taking 2 chemo pills in the a.m. and three in the p.m. Lisa said he was a little tired but other than that doing well. Meagen is doing better. She is back at work and seems to be handling it well.
DH and I are discussing renting another flea market booth. We are going to check to see if there are any available at one of the flea markets where we had a booth before. We didn't make very much but both of us miss the work and the interaction with other booth owners. We have plenty to fill it up right now and we can pretty much keep it filled this winter. Will give us something to do and if we make a little extra that will come in handy too.
This afternoon I cooked some dry red beans seasoned with onions and chili powder, made some mashed potatoes (real ones this time LOL) and browned some deer steaks and cooked it in gravy and onions. This was one of the better tasting meals I've cooked in a while.
I have found some recipes to make batter bread. I'm going to start Monday making our bread again. I am making me a work schedule. It's time I start doing something again. I've gotten lazy and it's not good for me. I'll make several loaves of bread every Monday and that will do us for the week. Then Tuesday I plan to cook up some different veggies and keep in the refrigerator. I'll be more apt to cook if I have some of it already cooked. We need to stay out of restaurants and eat home cooking.
You all take care of yourselves. Hope the rest of your weekend goes great.

It is so easy to slip into the restaurant trap. We get into the loop every now and again. The food is so much better at home.
Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................

I bought a ham and used the ham bone to make a huge pot of pinto beans. Yum!

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
I've been running errands and just been busy trying to get my house in order. I need to get back into the swing of cooking and eating at home, we've been eating way too much takeout food here since my dh went into the nursing home. It's hard to get a meal ready for my dad and myself, then run to the NH to help my dh with his dinner. I've got to try and find a balance and get on a schedule.

It will take awhile to find your new normal. Then of course, once you find it, something will happen to change it!

Re: How has your day been and what's for dinner...................
my day started at 9 pm and is now ending at 5 pm the next evening. After working midnight shift and day shift due to a co-worker calling in (mother having severe health issues) I decided to unwind with a frozen pizza and a hot shower before bed.
