Six Layer Casserole

1 lb.bulk sausage
1 1/2 cup sliced potatoes
1/2 cup sliced onion
1 cup sliced carrots
1/2 cup rice
1 1/2 cup canned tomatoes
2 Tbl. sugar
salt and pepper

Barely cook sausage, breaking up well, drain grease. Put into a 2 - quart baking dish. Layer rice, potatoes, onion, and carrots. Then tomatoes with the juice .Combine salt , pepper and sugar, sprinkle over the top. Cover and bake 350 - degrees 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
