I actually found this article a while ago and thought it was pretty interesting. It definitely broke it down in terms I understood. The neat thing about campers is just about everything in them is 12 volt minus the large appliances and AC. Even a lot of RV refrigerators have a three way setting (110volt/ 12volt/ propane). If you don’t have a camper it still a good idea to shop for camper accessories for your off grid cabin.

On a side note our campers refrigerator is only two way (110volt and Propane). I’ve been doing some reading and found out that people say you can run a propane RV frige for 3 months on a standard 20lb gas grill propane tank. I just hooked our RV up to accept the 20lb tanks but haven’t tried running it strait yet. I hope to do that soon.
