Garden bag

Garden bag
I picked up a couple denim squares to play with. I put a bit of denim webbing for a strap and came up with this to help gather stuff in from the orchard and garden.
I'm thinking of getting some hemp yardage and making a heavier, stiffer bag to sell.

Re: Garden bag
If you plan on carrying a decent amount of weight you need to add another strap and run the strap up from the bottom of the bag. That will help distribute the weight more evenly to lessen the risk of tearing the fabric. If you measure the length of the fabric and multiply by 6 you should have enough length to create a full length double strap.
If you pin the strap ends together then form an oval on a flat surface, then lay your bag in the center more to one side, then you'll see how long your straps will be once you fold the one side up on top of the bag. I hope this makes sense. Basically you are creating a double U shape under the base of the bag.

Re: Garden bag
yes Patrice it makes perfect sense...But that was all the webbing I had on hand. Most of the time what we bring in at one time a plastic grocery bag will handle, but I will likely try another with full length strapping and a more flat bottom design.
Re: Garden bag
It is a good design for lighter weight items like greens or beans but heavy items like apples or cucumbers would probably stress the strap too much. That's why I made the suggestion of the other style strap handle.
If you can find some heavier weight netting make a few bags from it. Then you can rinse your fresh produce right in the bag.
