You're welcome. I knew about the willow, but didn't know that cherries and frankensense were used for pain control.

Lavender can be used for inflammation (although Ibuprofen is more effective).

Re: 3 natural remedies to control pain
My preferred method of pain control (especially for joints or muscle pain) requires no pills or even herbs at all. It involves first icing the afflicted area until you can't anymore and then heating the same area.
I first noticed the effectiveness of this when I would wash dishes. I wash in water so hot my husband can't stick his hand in usually. After I have washed up a little pile then I switch to rinsing them. I always rinse in cold water. After doing the dishes my arthritic hands would feel SO much better and even the swelling would go down.
One day I looked it up on the internet and evidently it is a well recognized pain control method. Shifting from the ice to the heat causes the body to react. Natural brain chemicals that are pain blockers are released as well as chemicals that increase circulation and decrease swelling.
I have a hard time with most pain medicines, so can seldom take them. This method keeps me alive and moving.

Awesome but correct me if I am wrong but doesn't lavender have a restful/sleepy effect. Maybe I am getting two mixed up but I need the help for inflammation when I get up in the mornings and I sure don't need anything sleep inducing.
I like lavender I am just really susceptible to medications, scents, etc that cause drowsiness. I use lavender scented lotions at night and also lavender scented bubble bath to help me sleep at night. My oldest daughter also uses the lavender scented bubble bath and lotion (baby lotions and bubble bath) on the babies before bed.

The best thing I have found for that morning stiffness is a hot shower and a long session of stretching and gently moving the body. I am not into eastern religions at all, and have never tried it, but the tai chi exercises that you see the elderly Japanese doing seems like it would be good for those stiff mornings.

I used to practice Tai Chi Kai it is great for low impact aerobics, improves range of motion, flexibility, and some claim it improves balance. It is not a religion, rather a martial art form. Like Karate it can be used for defensive hand to hand combat.

Yes, lavander does have a mild sedative affect. I just recently found out that st johns wort also helps with inflamation. I take it for depression, so was surprised about it having properties for inflamation.
