We looked online trying to find it and it looks like the same plant we saw. But it's kind of hard to tell. Know of any sites that has a good picture of plantain? If this is plantain, there's a lot of it! What all can it be used for and how do I prepare it?

I think I've found plantain in my yard Empty plantain or plantago

Katrina, try this link.
This picture is pretty good.
It was brought over by colonists, and native Amercans tended to know when colonists where nearby because the plants grew commonly in disturbed garden areas.
Colonists also brought over the dandelion because it was such a good practical plant.
It is amazing the knowledge we lose isn't it ?

It looks similar, but the leaves were thinner and longer.
