Re: Hello from Upstate New York
That is very true about bucks. That is one of the reasons I never had one. Theirs are chained up a ways away from the does so I think it is more of a cleaniless issue.

backtotheland ----not trying to change the subject, but love that you live
in an old 1897 church! That is something that I have always wanted to do
is live in an old church. Do you have some pictures you can share? Do you
have any history you can share about the building? I have seen a lot of
other peoples homes that have been converted from old churches and
think they are so lovely.

Re: Hello from Upstate New York
I will have to get some pictures taken and have my daughter help me post them. I'm what my kids call "technologically impaired".
I know that the man was the pastor here was a Methodist pastor and they wanted to transfer him and he didn't want go leave so he quick and the congregation split off from the Methodist Church and they built a new church right up the road. I think since the church was sold there have only been three owners and if I decide to buy it I will be the fourth.

That's very interesting! We will be waiting for the pictures and any
more you can share on the history. I don't know how many of you feel like I do when it comes to old buildings and their history. To me, it is just another part of preserving the "homesteader lifestyle and it's past history" Hopefully it will also be inspiration for our youth as well our daily lifestyles.

I think it's interesting too. I love old buildings, especially old churches. That's why we decided to use a pic of an old church for our logo.

Which reminds me, Sonshine, where is this church on your logo? Do you know anything about it's history? Shame someone couldn't restore it and be used for something. Also, since you do spend time in the Smoky Mountain area, I know you must have been to The Cove. Love the old churchs out there. I understand some of them still have services once a month or quarter. That would be an interesting church meeting don't you think?

Re: Hello from Upstate New York
My husband actually found the picture for me. I told him what I wanted and that's what he found. Not really sure where he found it or anything about it.
I have not been to The Cove. My in-laws go all the time. We were going to on this last trip, but the weather got so bad that we didn't get the chance.
This summer my in-laws are wanting to have a family get together up there, so I'm hoping to be able to go to the Cove at that time. The pictures I've seen of it are wonderful. My MIL loves to get pictures of the bears.

Yes, you will LOVE the cove. We go to the Smokies at least twice a year and we always make it a point to go to the Cover. We usually go in May and late fall when the crowds are much less during those months. When you go to the Cove, go earily in mornings or last evenings. That is when you are more likely to see animals. Hope it all works out of a family reunion.
