new babies Empty new babies

We need help. We don't have a clue what to do now. The babies were born early this morning. We're not sure if the mamma is feeding them or not. We haven't seen her feed them and when we put the babies up to her she ran from them. How long do we wait till we try to feed them ourselves? If we do have to go that route how often and how much do we need to feed them? They are African Pygmies. Do we need to bring them in the house to care for them? The temps have been getting down in the 30's at night. They are in a barn and the barn is warmer than outside, but not sure if it will be warm enough if mamma doesn't step in. Thanks for the help. If there's anything else you want to tell us to help we would appreciate it.

When we bottle fed the babies that I got from a friend we fed them every 2 hours at first them every 4. I put out hay for them to get into. The babies the nannies had started to eat after a few hours with mom. She will take them in. If this is her first time just watch her. Junior can answer questions when he gets home. If you need to talk to him let me know and I will give you our phone number and he gets home at 4:15 (Central time)

Thanks Amy. We've been watching and the babies seem happy and strong. The momma has milk, because we squirted some out and she didn't seem to mind us handling the udders. We'll keep an eye on them and let you know. They do have fresh hay in the barn, as well as outside, so if they start eating the hay it's there for them.

Just let me know. Junior is the one to answer questions about goats, pigs and bees mostly. I know enough to get by. He is the one that dealt with them when we had them. It would be no problem at all.
