He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:6-7- "Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you."
I was talking to a friend the other day and he mentioned a certain health problem that was aggrevated by stress. In fact, all sorts of health problems come from stress or are excelerated by it. One of the greatest burdens we can ever bear in life is when think we have to exalt ourselves. We pridefully think we alone control our destiny. And we strive and struggle to climb the ladder of success, or make a better living, or get better stuff. And it becomes very stressful.
I'm not at all saying we shouldn't try hard at life. This isn't a devotional to encourage slackers to slack. But many times we forget an important thing: As children of God, we are not in this fight alone! We don't have to carry all of the stress and the burden that we think we do. God's Word here tells us some important things:
We are to humble ourselves under God's might hand. This means we are to recognize God is in control. He is the leader of our destiny and not we ourselves. He has a plan for us. And He is mighty to accomplish it.
As we humble ourselves before God, He will exalt us in due time. God's promotion plan is so much better than ours. He will take care of us. He will raise us up to the place He wants us.
We can cast all of our cares upon Him, because He cares for us. Do you know how it feels to have a million pounds lift off your shoulders? That's what it's like when we truly cast our cares upon the Lord. He loves you and me more than we could ever know. He cares for us just like a Father cares for a child. He wants what is best for us. And He wants us to release our burdens and cares to Him.
If you haven't been in the exercise of throwing off all of your burdens on to Jesus, start today. Tell Him what is on your heart. Don't bottle it up. Pour out your soul to Him. And I am asking the Holy Spirit right now to come in and give a peace and lightness to your soul. He cares for you!
