The Safety Pin Empty The Safety Pin

Post by Sonshine Sat Aug 15, 2009 2:27 am

Most of the younger people don't really understand the benefits of a safety pin. When I was a child my Mom used the safety pin for many unexpected events. If we were out to dinner and lost a button, no problem, Mom always had a safety pin to make sure the shirt stayed closed. If we got a splinter, which I always got since I hate wearing shoes, no problem, Mom would dip the end of a safety pin in some alcohol and dig it out. Safety pins were used to fix straps, pants, shirts, almost any article of clothing. When money was tight it was used to hold up undergarments when the elastic would wear out. I still make sure I have safety pins around for the unexpected.

We do a clown skit titled "Scaredy Cat". In this skit one clown is afraid of storms and afraid of the dark. She is reminded that If God be for us, who can be against us, so we have nothing to fear. About that time the lights go out and she goes into panic mode. The other clown asked why she was panicking when she was just told that God was for her, to which she replies, "But I didn't expect the lights to go out just then."

In life we face many unexepected events, but we have to realize, they AREN'T unexepected to God. He's not confined to time and space like we are. He already knows everything that is going to happen, and He has already made provisions for each event.

Like the safety pin, we need to make sure we keep in touch with God for the unexpected, since it's not unexpected to Him. When we trust Him with our future as well as with our present then we'll learn that we have nothing to fear. We don't have to fear the unexpected.

There's a lot going on in our world today. I don't know about most of you, but I know that I expect God to be there for the rought times as well as the good ones
