Semi-custom knives
Ok so in keeping with the spirit of this area, I will offer knives periodically.
If you are wanting a knife with a certain handle or blade shape, or one for a special need, let me know. I will see if I can build something that will fill your needs.
Pricing will be kept under $50.00 for Christian Homesteader members (most basic designs will run $35 +shipping give or take, depending on handle material [Ivory runs some what higher, and requires a significant waiting period for the paper work to clear])

Re: Semi-custom knives
I just bought a new gun, so my gear funds are depleted for a while, but I do plan on buying my next knife from you, brother. I do have a question, do you do antler handles? My dad found a shed off of a buck he has been trying to kill for a few years, and I have been thinking about getting him a skinning knife with that shed as the handle for Christmas.
God bless, Chad

Re: Semi-custom knives
My short answer is yes it could be built, but it is a bad idea. First the skinning blades I make really need a full tang, not a half tang like an antler would require (the handle material must be absolutely straight for at least 5 inches so at least a full length hidden tang could be made) Antler sheds are very prone to splitting as the epoxy hardens. If the antler piece survives drilling, pressing the tang in place, and the epoxy curing, then there is breakage issues with use.
Add to that the legal issues of selling parts of wildlife, if not mounted and registered it cannot be legally sold or transferred in KY.
I can build a very functional skinner with "jigged stag bone" handle material. It would be a full tang and not prone to splitting or breakage, with normal use.
The bad news is it would take 3 weeks to get the material, and the finished knife would have to be priced significantly more than the 50 dollars listed. (the handle material alone is $45)
here's the slabs that the handle would be cut from
it would make an interesting knife, but likely not what you had in mind
(not one of mine, but typical of the type)

Re: Semi-custom knives
Thanks brother, I guess I will have to come up with a different way to use the shed.
