What a great place! Empty What a great place!

Post by TheSecretSlice Tue May 07, 2013 8:19 pm

My name is Joe, and I just found this forum. I am a self-employed farmer from Iowa. We live on a three generation family farm and are striving to re-capture not only the American homesteading lifestyle, but also the proper relationship between God, man, and the land that we were originally created into. I really hope to meet a lot of like minded people here and learn a few things, as well as share whatever meager tricks and knowledge I have accumulated.

So very nice to see that there is an active community of Christian Homesteaders!

Hi Joe and welcome.

We are fairly active here, mainly when the work slows down on each of our places. Lots of folks here on small plots and some on city lots. What do you farm?? How big is your place? Mine is 12 acres (hence the name) my grandfathers place (15 minutes down the road) is about 300. We raise cattle and hay there, along with a couple acres of sweet corn to give to the locals who want it.

Like you my place is an attempt to return to what God intended for us, tending his creation.

Welcome. I'm one that's on a town lot. For the first time in years, I'll finally have a garden-had a bad ground hog problem for a few years. I also have 2 pet goats (they were originally supposed to be for milk Neutral ), 2 pet rabbits (for the manure) 3 horses that I board, and where I have my horses, I also have my chickens.

Hi Joe and welcome to our little corner of the net. My husband's name is Joe, so your name will be easy for me to remember. Smile We have 2 acres, so tend to do things on a small scale, but manage to fit quite a bit into our little lot. We have goats and chickens, as well as a veggie garden and a couple of herb gardens. We also have some young fruit trees, a few berry bushes and a couple of pecan trees.

Hi Joe and welcome! I am fairly new here also. I live in town and have nowhere to put a garden, so my daughter and I are trying a container garden. We have never done any kind of gardening before as we are City folk.
We decided we have to start trying to raise our own vegetables and try to become some what self sufficient. I hope you enjoy the forum as much as I do.
