stuck chick

There were so many chicks, I had to open the incubator and transfer most to the brooder, but opening it up took away some moisture. One of the chicks wound up getting stuck in the shell. I had a choice, let it die, or try to help it and see if it would die anyway. I ran it under warm water and used tweezers to take off most of the shell and membrane, and she is in the incubator laying on her side, peeping.

If she lives, we'll call her Miracle. She's kicking and trying to get up but so far is too weak. She keeps trying, though.

Awww that has to be hard to see, I hope she hangs on, she sounds like a little fighter.

She's up and walking around, taking lots of rest breaks in between. I think she's out of the woods now. When she gets stronger, I'll take her from the incubator and move her to the brooder.

Glad you little chick is going to make it. It is exciting raising chicks. I've hatched from an incubator in the the past and it is lots of fun. Where I'm at now I can't raise chickens and I miss it.

Miracle is completely fine now and blends right in with the others. I'm so glad she made it!
