Touch me not Empty Touch me not

Post by Harvey_Birdman Tue Apr 02, 2013 2:33 am

The tough me not or jewel weed is a cure/preventitive for poison ivy. I have seen it work on my BIL. He used to get poison ivy every time we went into the woods. I found out about touch me nots, and had him crush some leaves up and rub them on his arms and legs. He didn't get it! From then own we always stop by the creek on our way in and he rubs some on.

God bless,
Chad

Of course, I'm never near any touch me not when I run into poison ivy! Laughing

I'll have to look into that. I don't know what they are. I don't have problems with poison ivy, but have family members that do. Thanks for sharing.

You can find it around here growing where it's wet.

I have never used Jewel Weed, but I have read that it is good for poison ivy and other skin ailments. Many years ago I collected the seeds for eating. They taste a bit like walnuts. It takes a lot of collecting though because they are very small.
