Re: CACA STRIKING THE OSCILLATOR guns and strategies
I'm glad you have enjoyed reading my thoughts on firearms, the study of the function of the guns and how the ammunition has been a favorite study topic of mine for many years. The Winchester pump series (12, 1200, 1300, and super-X pump) are good dependable guns. The early model 120 Ranger (if I remember correctly) is an example of the single action bar type pump gun. Later models ( post 1979ish) corrected most of the timing issues.
One of my favorite shotgun stories is "The Legend of Bo Whoop". Seems there was a special shotgun built for testing a special or experimental long range express ammunition for shotguns. The gun was named Bo Whoop because of the sound it made when firing this high pressure experimental ammo.

That experimental ammo? Winchester Super-X. So the Winchester company has a long history in firearms, almost as long and storied as Remington.

Do rural homeowners need guns for self defense?
" two teenage males in a community very close to the one my department serves will go on trial for the murder of a respected middle-aged couple who lived in a somewhat remote home. Neither was able to access a gun to prevent being brutally butchered by assailants armed with combat knives. They thought they lived in a safe place where people didn't need guns, "
I say yes.

Re: CACA STRIKING THE OSCILLATOR guns and strategies
this is some great information. BUT. if I am out in my garden. and someone comes in. the best tool for protection would be my rake or shovel. If buy chance I could get into my house. I could grab my 12 gauge or 10 gauge. and hopefully If I knew their full intent, I would have time to Ame and shoot. but most of us get confused. buy what someone is doing. some one who comes to hurt us, doesn't come in blazing. they sneak in, and talk . lieing and learning are disabilities. see if we are prepared to defend are selfs. or who eals is hear. judging if we are week or strong. unless we are hard as nails. we will fall for their lies. I think not only should we be prepared buy arms. but buy learning how to read folks. are they desperate. maybe a dad with kids. or a drug er. we can tell. but both will do the same thing to supply what they need. you can only be as ready as you can. and be willing to shoot. that is not easy. you have to have no doubt. no remittance, no fear of the consequences. this is what scares me. I just choose to make sure of tomorrow in food and water. and warmth. and try to make a way to protect it where it can't be seen, and don't brag on it. just do what is in front of me an don't worry so much about tomarrow. we don't have a day to pinpoint the day we need to use those guns. and if you think you do. then you will be out of scripture. for only he knows the day. right.

Wonderful insight Evie. To go forth armed is to expect to need the armament of choice. Defending your castle is another proposition all together. Those who know me know to expect me to be armed with something. So anyone who knows me is well aware that easier targets are available elsewhere. The naer do well types do not come straight to your door, only those intent on causing no harm will present themselves well, and not be casting about looking over your property. The man needing to feed his children will first ask or beg. Desperation leads them to bigger targets, stores, gas stations, etc. On the otherhand, the thief cannot pass a verbal challange without being shaken
