Post any information or questions regarding solar, wind, water, wood, ect here. As the cost of energy rises it's great to have a way to, if not get completely off grid, at least cut down on the amount of money that's going out for our energy.

Welcome to alternative energy Empty RE: Alternative energy

Post by W. B. Scales Fri May 08, 2009 11:25 am

I have a woodburner for pleasure, but when the power went out last winter, life was still good as well as educational. I remember along time ago, as a child, I read an old copy of a Sears & Robuck catalog that offered a treadmill for horses, ponies, and a smaller version for goats. This treadmill had a set of brake shoes on it so it could not free wheel and run away. It had a pulley on it for belt power to pull a generator or what ever. If a person had a bunch of milk goats, this would be good exercise if you rotated them out ever so often. You would not have to rely on the wind or sun everday. Anybody got any thoughts on this ?

Hmmm, wonder what kind of generator you could use? It would be an interesting concept.
