Ginger is great for your health and home. With the holidays and cold season approaching it's time to stock up on some ginger. For your winter supply of ginger, here's a list of items to keep on hand:

Crystallized Ginger: This can be found in the section of the grocery store where fruitcake supplies are located. Health food and natural food stores have it available all year.

Ginger Root: This is readily available in the produce section of a grocery store and various types of food markets and specialty stores.

Ginger Candy: It's also a good idea to stock up on individually wrapped pieces of ginger candy to carry with you, keep in your desk drawer, or your car.

Now, if you're wondering what to do with all of those ginger related items here's a short list of uses and benefits of ginger. With a little exploration, you can find even more ways that ginger is beneficial.

Crystallized ginger can relieve symptoms of discomfort that come from over eating or eating foods that vary from your normal dietary plan. This is a common problem during the holidays. Crystallized ginger is helpful in relieving nausea related to the flu, motion sickness, or morning sickness. Pieces of ginger candy can often be used instead of crystallized ginger. It's easy to keep the candy in your purse, your desk, your travel bag, desk drawer, or various other convenient locations.

A hot ginger drink can relieve some of the discomfort associated with the typical winter cold. Ginger tea is excellent for warming you up on a cold day. You can make an excellent ginger drink with fresh ginger root, sugar and lemon.

Gingersnaps are ideal for the holiday table. They are also a delicious way to settle an upset stomach. Gingersnap cookies have been successfully used as a remedy for motion sickness for dogs. This might be a beneficial tip if you plan to travel with your pet during the holidays, or on your next vacation.

Slice some fresh ginger, add it to a pot of boiling water and it will serve as a wonderful air freshener for your home.
