Poultices, plasters and compresses Empty Poultices, plasters and compresses

Post by Sonshine Mon Jun 06, 2011 11:17 am

There old fashioned preparations are time honored ways to use herbs externally. Each preparation requires fresh or dried whole herbs. With poultices and plasters, the herbs are mashed or dissolved into a paste and applied directly to the skin, or wrapped in a cloth before application. Heat may be applied as well. Compresses involved dipping a cloth into a tea and applying it to the affected area. They can be used cold or hot.
