We actually made some goat milk butter. Yep, you read it right, butter! I was surprised that the color is white instead of the yellow I'm use to with cow's milk, but it's good. It's actually sweeter and creamier than butter made with cow's milk. Nothing better than fresh butter on fresh sourdough bread. YUM!

That's wonderful Sonshine. How long did it take you to collect the cream. You little girls must have a really high butter fat content. I tried to save cream from my full size Nubian and Alpine/Nubian cross but never could get enough - of course maybe if I hadn't drank so much of the milk I would have gotten cream huh. I love goat milk. My friends cow is going to calf in June and if I'm not milking something by then I'll be getting milk from her. I can't wait for farm fresh milk.

Nigerian Dwarfs have the highest butterfat content of any of the goats. That's one of the reasons I wanted them. It took about a week to get enough cream to make the butter. Smile We're looking for a cream separater now, so we can hopefully get more of the cream out of the milk.
