Ratty looking Angora!!
Oh my GOODNESS, poor Whitey looks like he has mange. He does have a medium coat, very thick, he is pygmy/angora. There is white fluff everywhere! Will he just shed out or do I need to brush him out? Does he need to be sheared in the summer? He looks so pathetic... !

I don't know about angoras but I used an undercoat rake (for dogs) on my little family to get their winter coats out. It worked great and they loved it.

I can see me trying to brush that monster. He'll be too busy trying to eat the brush. I'll try it out when Kara goes to her pop's this afternoon. It's a gorgeous day to be covered in hair.
The pygmies are looking sleek and fit, it's only Whitey. Goofball.

Re: Ratty looking Angora!!
I used a horse brush on mine. They were long hair from their dad. He was a nightmare to do anything with that coat. I just let him shed he had it down to the grown. I have no idea what kind he was I got him for $20 and he was my first goat. Had to get rid of him because he kept knocking the 4 year old out of his shoes just for the fun of it.

Not to sound rude, but why wasn't he fenced in so he couldn't knock your kid around?

He was or he was tied out some of those times. My son would go and pet him like all the other kids in the neighbor hood. He just picked on him for some reason. He did not like little kids he started with my grandson who is 3. I sold him to an older couple for part of their clean up crew.

Oh. I was picturing a buck running around loose chasing kids

that is ok he did once when he got off his rope. That was not allowed after the cabbage and broccoli incident the first year we owned goats. lol
Re: Ratty looking Angora!!
Makes me wonder if your goat had some kind of unpleasant experience with kids before you got him? It is amazing what critters will remember!

Re: Ratty looking Angora!!
It was more likely that the kids were smaller then the buck so the buck shoved them around. That's typical for a goat
My pygmy's look horrible too. Mostly the doe and she doesn't like to be brushed so she rubs it off on the tree. The wether on the other hand loves to be brushed and picked at. I will just stand and pull it off of him and he likes it
