Self Defense Empty Self Defense

Post by Deena in GA Thu Oct 15, 2009 3:47 am

Preparedness covers a whole range of areas. Until recently, the only "defense" I'd thought about was the obvious hardware. Then, a few weeks ago, they announced at our church that one of the men (a forest ranger who also teaches several subjects at the local university) was going to offer a free 2 day self-defense for women class. A lightbulb went off in my head. Yes! We need that! I've now finished those two classes, and may sign up for more. Our class consisted of a couple of teens, some young moms, some of us middle-aged women and two ladies in their late 60's or early 70's. It's never too late to learn how to protect yourself! Some of the techniques were very simple and none of the moves he taught us in these classes were difficult or took a lot of physical strength.

My mom said her church is offering the same type of class, so maybe it's something new that churches or civic organizations are jumping on board with.

I think it's a good idea to know how to defend yourself. I took a few years of taikwondo when I was in the Air Force. Ty also took a few years. Joe hasn't, but then again, he's a cop in the Air Force, so I figure he's probably better trained than me. Smile
