Hi everyone Surprised)
I'm a stay at home mom to 6 beautiful children...5 boys and 1 girl ages 4-14. My DH and I have started "urban homesteading" on our small one acre plot in suburbia...I long to move to the country but until God provides I will be content here. This way of life is totally new to us. We currently have 35 chickens. Lots of rabbits. A garden. 2 goats. We feel the time may be near that we will have to look to God and our own resources to sustain us..Not agri-business and the gov't...But besides all that...Homegrown/raised food just tastes better Surprised)

I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Smiles, Laura

Hi Laura!

I was just in Greer last weekend.. as I posted on another thread, my husband bid on a VW on ebay, and we flew to SC to pick it up! It's beautiful there..

Welcome to the forum, I think you're right about the time getting nearer to having to provide more for ourselves.. !

I am retired, have been married for 37 yrs and my husband is a disabled vet. We have 3 grown children, all married, and 3 granddaughters..

actually, our youngest daughter just found out last week that she is expecting - her first one, so we are all excited about that! She's 28, so it's time! Smile

Talk soon!

Hi Laura,
welcome to the family.

We have one child, age 11. We live on 2 acres in Middle Georgia. We have 4 goats, 14 chickens, 2 doves, 1 rabbit and 4 dogs. We also have a garden and an herb garden, 2 pecan trees a dwarf orange, lemon and lime trees, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. Also a couple of grape vines that aren't producing yet.

Like you, I believe the time is coming when Christians need to be self-sufficient. Relying only on God and the bounty He provides. Joe and I are working on learning how to get off the grid. It's a slow process, but little by little we are getting there.

Thanks for the welcome Surprised)

I'm originally from Michigan, Marie. Hubby and I lived there until 2002. We have since lived in North Carolina, Colorado and now here in South Carolina.

This is such an exciting (and sometimes difficult) journey..but one we are commited to..

I look forward to linking up with other like mind individuals. I think in these times it is important that we band together....even if it is via the internet.

I agree with you. We can learn from one another and encourage one another, at least while we can.
