High blood pressure
My blood pressure is up high again. 153/92 last time I checked it. I have an electric home blood pressure machine. It has been high for a couple of years but I always thought it was because of back pain. Well, now I am not having any severe pain and it is still high. I would rather not go on any medicine. They are too expensive, too many side effects, and not guaranteed to work. I am sure the doctor would tell me to lose weight (5' 9'' at 215#s) but if I could, I would not be overweight! Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. My husband is after me to go see a doctor but I know that he will just give me a pill. Thanks!

Re: High blood pressure
I'd go on a pill. Sorry
I never had high blood pressure until after I was in an accident with our truck last December.. about a month later my pulse was racing and BP was 175/100.. so I went on Lisinopril 2.5 mg daily.. it's a very low dose but it does the trick. Before this, my BP would sometimes be so low, both numbers would be below 100! I'm hoping that maybe I'll be able to go off someday, once my body settles down from the collision.
A friend told me that after she went on Lisinopril she didn't have any cravings for sugar any more.. and it seems that's what I'm experiencing too. I do crave salt, but not sweet. Am overweight also, but it's not so hard to lose, I hear ya.

Re: High blood pressure
I was taking a diuretic, hydroclorothyazide (sp.) and it's $3. a month $4. if it's from Walmart and you have no insurance. Since I"ve lost weight I no longer have to take it, but it worked fine when I did. Mine never was way high, but high nevertheless. You might try dandelion and chickweed along with tons of garlic and omega 3 oils, CQ10 and hawthorn but they take some time to work. Were I you, I think I would ask your doctor for the cheap diuretic, then work with some herbals. Keep a record of your bp at 3 different times during the day for a week and you can get a running average. That should help. High BP is nothing to sneeze at. My worst nightmare is a stroke.
Re: High blood pressure
I am going to get blood work today and when the results come in, I plan on going to the doctor and talk to him about it. It has been going on for years and with an eight years old son, I am tired of taking chances. Thanks for listening.
