It's time to harvest! Empty It's time to harvest!

Post by Medicine Mom Thu Jun 18, 2009 9:06 am

Today I harvested some Calendula blossoms and dried those in the dehydrator so I can get some ready for making ointment. I also harvested & dried some English Ivy for making capsules for my hubby's COPD.

He had his semi-annual doctor appointment on Monday and for the first time ever, his lung function was improved from 39% capacity to 45% capacity. His next appointment is in 1 year! The only thing we have done differently is add the daily English Ivy. We also skipped the pharmaceuticals this year when he had bronchitis and treated it herbally.

Tomorrow I will harvest & dry St.John's wort (for depression) and Broadleaf plantago (for an anti-itch gel).

My Marshmallow plants are wonderfully prolific. I planted it last year and it is spreading so broadly that I should be able to harvest some root next year for sore throats.
