Newspaper Pot Maker
Here is a pot maker for starting seed that I turned on my lathe. Now we can start our seeds using a newspaper pot which can then be planted in the garden pot and all.
Wrap the newspaper around the top part, fold it over to cover the bottom, insert it into the base and give it a twist.
Here is the finished product.
Works for me. Comments or critiques always welcome.

Re: Newspaper Pot Maker
I like it. I've been trying to figure out a way to make these pots, and have never been able to come up w/a way to keep it from falling apart. I should think that this would hold together.

Re: Newspaper Pot Maker
Rohn, that's a pretty nifty device. I use old paper towel or toilet paper rolls as starter pots. They make great seed starters and can also be planted in the garden. However, sometimes, like this year, the last frost date goes well beyond what is normal, so I have to transfer my seedlings to bigger pots. I wonder if there's a way to make those newspaper pots without the pot maker. BTW, are you interested in selling them? If so, what kind of price would you want?
Re: Newspaper Pot Maker
I have seen these for sale for a few years, from several sources. Your version is as top shelf as any of these:
http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=pot+maker&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=4307848637&hvpos=1o2&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7987292732089522152&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&ref=pd_sl_1awd50b3wn_b
Since the market seems to bare prices up to $20 plus shipping, I vote you investigate making some for sale.
Excellent job my friend

Re: Newspaper Pot Maker
I am going to make some of these for sale. Since this is my first one I will be modifying them a bit by not making the base as tall. It is now 2-1/2" tall it will be and inch shorter on the next ones, also the top part where you hold it may be shorter.
The price is $14.00 + shipping.
If anyone is interested you can PM me or I have opened an Etsy store and will be posting them there also (my store address is in my signature).

Re: Newspaper Pot Maker
hmm, could you or rather would you write up something about opening an Etsy store, and having an on line store. You could feature your things like a lite info-mercial
Re: Newspaper Pot Maker
Rohn, I agree with 12acrehome, you need to write up something about your store to post here and then maybe do weekly features of your things. I can vouch for your work. We love the leather products we bought from you.
Re: Newspaper Pot Maker
I will see what I can do and post about my store. Etsy is new to me too and I don't have all the things figured out there yet. I just opened yesterday and will be adding things regularly as I can.

Re: Newspaper Pot Maker
Great work, That is beautiful. Just like all of your other creations that I have seen.
You may have to explain what newspapers are to the younger kids. LOL!

Re: Newspaper Pot Maker
Just made four more and put them on my Etsy site. I made these ones a but shorter, but they still make the same size pots.

Re: Newspaper Pot Maker
Ok, I'd like one but will not create an account with etsy to order one. Just stubborn I guess
Re: Newspaper Pot Maker
Me too, maybe we could just send him a check and he could send us one. What do you think Rohn?

Re: Newspaper Pot Maker
Sure, you don't have to buy through Etsy. Just PM me and I'll send you my address. I have these ready to ship.
I'm not sure that I am going to keep my Etsy account anyway. It hasn't helped me one bit to have it and my daughter also has some beautiful carry bags she makes on etsy and hasn't sold any either. It was worth a try but it just isn't doing us any good.

Re: Newspaper Pot Maker
the concept is a good one, but when someone cannot just go on and buy an advertised item lots of sales will be lost.
Re: Newspaper Pot Maker
Thanks Rohn, I got it a couple days ago and I love it!!! It will definitely be put to use for my Fall seed starting this year.
