Great tips. One thing we do with onions and potatoes is buy a kiddie pool and fill it with hay or straw, place your root vegetables in the hay/straw not allowing them to touch one another. Ours lasted a whole season doing it that way. Of course, it would be better with a root cellar, but we have a room set aside as our pantry and the kiddie pools were place in there so we were able to control the temp.

Oh, another thing we do, we buy things like rice, oats, etc in bulk. We always place them in the freezer for a month before putting them in a sealed container. This should kill any of the moth eggs that are usually present.
