Hello from Canada
Hey all! My name is mike, from NB Canada. My wife and I have a small homestead. With hobby farming I enjoy alot of past times... fly tying, bow making, beekeeping to name a few. Pretty much anything that can be made by hand or done outdoors I enjoy. I am looking forward to posting on the forum, I have been reading some great topics.

Re: Hello from Canada
Welcome Mike, we could use another man's perspective around here. There are two of us that post regularly, and a couple others that pop in and out. I used to tie flies, but haven't had time for fishing in many many years. A spider or Bumble bee fly were my favorites for Bass on a summer's afternoon.
Enjoy your stay, and please post about your hobbies

Re: Hello from Canada
Hi Dizzy, I was born and raised in Ontario, not too far from Niagara Falls. Beautiful area there.
Hey Keith, I'm glad there will be another mans perspective too lol... by the looks of that rifle we enjoy some of the same hobbies. I have not done any flyfishing for bass yet, mostly Trout but this year I'm going to give the Bass and Salmon a try. I just started flyfishing last year, I can't believe I have been missing out on all that fun up until now. I will be tying some Bass and Salmon flies over the winter, I will post some pics for you.
Other hobbies... fishing, hunting, hiking, woodworking, gardening, giant pumpkin growing, primitive bow making (hunting bows, not hair bows lol), beekeeping... pretty much anything I find of interest to me becomes a challenge to try, then becomes a hobby lol

Re: Hello from Canada
Hello Mike, Glad to have you here. I also have tied flies in the past. I haven't tied any for a few years. Mentioning it makes me want to get out my vice and do a few. I always liked the Wooly Bugger and tied a bunch of them every year for several years.
Will be deer hunting in a few days, Ohio Muzzle Loader season comes in Friday.
I am also looking forward to fishing in a couple of months.
Hope to see lots of your posts here.

Hey Rohn, You should get out the vice! I have tied a few Wooly Buggers, they are fun to tie. My favourite fly is the Adams... that was the first I tied and it got me hooked.
Good luck with the hunt! I have been wanting to try my hand at hunting with the muzzle loader, wish we had a season here specific for that. Are the bucks in rut where you are right now? Our season here ends around mid November, just when the bucks are starting to think about the rut. Use to be a good cold snap would come in late October and put them in the rut, now we are lucky to see snow here by mid December. But, just makes for a better challenge lol.

Re: Hello from Canada
Mike, the rut is pretty much over here. The season allows us to harvest buck or doe unless we already got a buck.
I believe I tied Adams a few times. If I remember right it was with an Adams that I caught a nice bass using my spinning rod. That was in a lake in PA and I just tied on the fly and threw it out with a bobber attached and was slowly bringing it back in when the Bass grabbed it.
Lots of fun!

Welcome Mike, glad you found our little homesteading family. Well, I feel like it is a family anyway. Everyone here is so supportive and willing to share their knowledge. I went to Canada one when I was in my early 20's and it was beautiful. My new dsil is a fisherman but I don't know if he fly fishes and he also hunts. Welcome!

Re: Hello from Canada
Thank you for the welcomes! I have been part of a largre online Christian forum for a couple years now and although I enjoy it I have been growing tired of the atheists who flood the forum jumping on every word that is said, trying relentlessly to "prove" God is not real. I know we are to teach them, but it grows tiring. I have been looking for a place to hang my hat and relax, where others share the same general interests and the Lord is in the center of it. I have been really enjoying it here, thank you all for making me feel warmly welcomed.
God bless

Re: Hello from Canada
Well Mike, I've been here a year (nearly) and not had to deal with a troll yet. I find the people here to be exceptional. Since we are also a homesteading forum, in addition to a christian forum the trolls seem to skip over us. We are also a small group, and while we may not agree on all points, we accept differing view points.
So pour yerself a cup of coffee, and have a seat by the fire, prop yer feet up and enjoy.

Re: Hello from Canada
I'm a little late in welcoming you Mike because I've been offline the past few days. I'm glad you are here though and hope you will come to think of yourself as part of our online family. We have had some non-Christians here in the past, which I encourage, but I don't allow them to troll. It's my hope that some will come and find the truth here.
Re: Hello from Canada
Yes, seekers and folks who just don't know are wonderful, trolls who make silly posts to get on people's nerves and argue with every word said trying to twist it around are not so wonderful lol.
