One Dish Meals Empty One Dish Meals

Post by Beanie Wed Sep 14, 2011 8:24 pm

I love easy one pan meals. They are so necessary for our crazy schedule. Can we share some favorites?

Tonight I'm doing ...

Hamburger Pie.

In large oven proof dutch oven I boil 3 potatoes (skin on). Boil until very tender. remove, drain off water. Put potatoes in a mixing bowl and mash with butter and milk to make lumpy mashed potatoes. Set aside

Wipe out pot then...In same large oven proof dutch oven brown 1 lb of burger with one chopped onion in it.
Drain off grease.
Add a large can of green beans
Add 1/4 tsp of garlic powder
Add one can tomato soup (undiluted)
Fold to mix.

Frost the top with the mashed potatoes.
Put dutch oven in the oven. Bake at 350 for 20 mins or until bubbling and 'tators are starting to brown.

Add a side salad and dinner is done!

This sounds great. Wonder how well it would do using an open fire instead of the oven. I'm wanting to learn how to do dutch over cooking outdoors, so I think I'll add this to the list of one to try on the fire. Smile

Fresh Tomatoes, Sausage and Pasta

In a large skillet or pot crumble 1 pound of italian sausage (casings removed) along with some chopped onions, minced garlic, and bell peppers. Cook over medium high heat until the meat is browned evenly. Add 1 small can of tomato sauce, 1 can of water (from the tomato sauce), 2 pints of cherry or grape tomatoes, some garlic powder, salt, pepper and italian seasonings to taste. Cover and simmer over medium heat until the tomatoes pop and everything is heated through. Add 1/2 pound of angel hair pasta to the sauce and cook until tender. Stir in parmesan cheese to taste.
