This year, why not skip the grow lights, heat mats, and constant babysitting of seedlings, and give winter sowing a try. The basic principle of winter sowing is to "let nature do the nurturing." All you have to do is sow your seeds in some plastic containers, set them outside in a sunny location, and Mother Nature will take care of the rest

Thanks for posting Sonshine. I was just sitting here the other day trying to figure out where I'm going to start my seeds this year. This sounds like a great solution.

I agree. sow your seeds outside. I have tried to start seeds in my green house. and seems like the freezing cold still hurt my sprouts. so this year. I sowed right in the ground. I am picking radishes, and my onions and garlic is off to a great start. and I have lettuce, , an spinach getting ready to pick, I have broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and collard greens all doing just fine.

I usually start my seeds in the house under a heat lamp, but I think I'll try this this year, at least for some of them. I'll probably still start my tomatoes and peppers in the house.
