Hi,

My name is Jeri and I live in Montana. I am what you all urban homesteader(hoping to someday be a real homesteader). I have 4 children and a wonderful husband. We have homeschooled our children from the begininning and have tried to live frugally. Which means canning, dehydrating, freezing buying in quantity.

I have enjoyed reading your post on the Yahoo group and have been reading them over here too. I have never posted anything before so I hope I am doing this right.

We beleve we are going to be heading into some rough times so are taking steps to prepare as well as we can always knowing God is in control and He is our fortress.

I am hoping to get to know you.

In Christ,

Jeri

grateful

Hi Jeri and welcome to the family. I believe homesteading is different than it was when the word was first coined. Homesteading is a mindset and it sounds to me like you are a "real" homesteader. It amazes me how many adults have no clue where their food comes from. I've watched people in our area try to garden for the first time this year and wondered how many of them would know how to preserve what they managed to raise. One neighbor in particular burned his small garden up by watering in the middle of the day when the sun was scorching.

I am trying to learn, as well as educate my brothers and sisters in the Lord, so that they can become self-sufficient on all the Lord has blessed us with. For too long people in this nation have been trained to let the government take care of them. What happens when the government is no longer interested in taking care of their people?

I'm glad you joined us and am looking forward to getting to know you better.
