Officially a funny farm Empty Officially a funny farm

Post by Guest Fri Sep 27, 2013 1:11 am

Our new gilts think they are dogs with the barking, running the fence, and climbing on it as well. Our boar thinks he is a goat and tries to crawl on everything and he weighs between 300 and 400 pounds. The poodle thinks he is a cow dog, the cats sleep with the chickens, and on and on. Wouldn't trade it for the world.

Don't know how many times I've had to take my cat out of the nesting boxes. Laughing But, it's when I'm getting ready to close in the chickens for the night. I don't think she really wants to be in there.

Ain't it great? Our critters animals are more entertaining than anything you could find on TV.

That's right. Who needs chick flicks when you have real chicks to watch? Laughing

It's amazing how much we can learn just by observing God's creatures. I have a spider outside my kitchen window that makes new webs all the time. I watch as different insects get trapped while others do not.

One day a big horsefly got stuck and died, but the spider wouldn't come out to claim it. Then we saw why. Two hornets took turns cutting the bug free. They worked together for half an hour cutting off parts and flying off with them. When they were done working, only the wings and legs remained. Then the spider tore down the web and built a new one.

mountainmama, seems like homesteaders have more patience than most people. I don't think I've ever met anyone with the patience to watch a web and wonder about what the spider was thinking. Smile We are definitely a class by itself. Also, what dizzy said.
