Obama Does Some Seoul-Searching after Gaffe
No one is more confident about Barack Obama winning reelection than Barack Obama. With nine months left in his first term, the President is already racking up promises for the next four years. And until yesterday, no one knew about those deals but him. Now, thanks to another embarrassing blunder, the only thing standing in the way of President Obama and a second term may be his own microphone. During Monday's nuclear summit in Seoul, the U.S. leader leaned in to Russian President Dmitri Medvedev to have a frank conversation about America's plans for a missile defense shield in Europe--without realizing the comments were picked up on his open mic. What happened next was a frightening glimpse into this administration's vision for 2013 and beyond.
"On all these issues," President Obama said quietly, "but particularly missile defense, this can be solved-but it's import for [Vladamir Putin] to give me space... This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility." Medvedev nodded. "I understand," he said. "I will transmit this information to Vladimir." Minutes later, the recording was blasted out to the entire press pool, and suddenly, international headlines were full of speculation about the President's concessions on national security and whether the administration was relaxing U.S. policy.
Back home, voters who were already concerned about the direction of the country, were even more alarmed. The Republican National Committee asked the question on most people's minds, "What else is on Obama's agenda after the election that he isn't telling you?" Others worried about the implications for Iran and Syria. "I'm curious," said former Speaker Newt Gingrich, "How many other countries has the President promised that he will have a lot more flexibility [on] the morning he doesn't have to answer to the American people?" Gov. Mitt Romney deftly turned the question into a fill-in-the-blank exercise. "I'll have more flexibility to do _____ after the election."
Redefine marriage? Crack down on homeschooling? Offer taxpayer-funded sex changes? Cut off foreign aid to countries that don't legalize abortion? This is what conservatives have cautioned all along. If you think the administration is liberal now, just want until next year when the President is not facing reelection. For the most radical White House in history, there is no limit to the damage he could inflict on this country. Even now, in his third year, Americans are only slowly learning what the administration has already done in secret. New abuses are trickling out every day, including this latest announcement from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The President decided that if he can't pass a non-discrimination policy, he'll implement one anyway. On Friday, the administration handed down a new rule, ordering HUD to add "sexual orientation" to the non-discrimination policy on housing applications.
Under this edict, faith-based groups such as Catholic Charities, who operate housing complexes in partnership with HUD, would be forced to abandon their beliefs on marriage and accept homosexual couples--or end their grant with the federal government. Last year, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops urged HUD to not to create a "new protected classification" that flies in the face of congressional policy. But, once again, the administration proved that it would risk services for the most vulnerable just to advance their radical social agenda. Barbara McQuade, one of the lobbyists on the issue, congratulated the President for barging ahead on the new language without the legislature's approval. "I really applaud the administration, which isn't waiting around for Congress," she told reporters. Ironically, that was the fulfillment of another Obama promise--one that he made quite publicly. "Where they won't act," the President warned, "I will." Even, it appears, if he lacks the constitutional authority to do so.
God's mercy on us in the next election!!!

Re: Obama Does Some Seoul-Searching after Gaffe
sadly he actually stands a chance at reelection. Too many people on government assistance will blindly and happily vote for him, not to mention the "yellow dog" voters who only know that their party is the one they are voting for.
I have been praying since he was elected that he would be enough to wake the silent majority and jar them into action. Between the financial disaster we have for an economy, and the blatent attacks on liberty, religious freedoms, and now this, along with sweeping gun ownership bans (all guns). I fear for the future.

It brings to my mind what the Bible says about turning a people over to a reprobate mind. I pray there are enough Christians left in American that are willing to ask for forgiveness and humble themselves before the Lord. I believe this is our last chance and if we don't turn back to God as a nation then we're going to fall and fall hard.

He certainly has added to the mess this country was in when he took office but I don't ever remember a President being so blatant about ignoring the constitution. I, too Sonshine, hope there are enough Christians left in this country to turn it back around.

He is ignoring the Constitution and had made Congress irrelevent. He's basically a dictator. Satan must have blinded a lot of people, because there's still many who will vote for him again. It seems no matter what is done or said, they still support him. There's many who no longer want a capitalist nation but want the socialist nation that Obama is ushering in.

Re: Obama Does Some Seoul-Searching after Gaffe
Actually, after I posted the above I got a check in my spirit to expand on that. One of the things I think we, as Christian need to do is first ask the Lord to search our hearts. Make sure we're living the life we're suppose to, and make things right in our lives. Until we can really get totally sold out to God we will not be able to stand up against the storm that is coming. It's got to begin with us and our relationship with God. When we get our lives lined up with the word of God, then we start interceding for our nation. We're entering the stage that everything that can be shaken will be. If we are not secure in our faith in God, we won't make it. Satan is out to decieve everyone, even the elect if he can. It's up to us to make sure we're standing strong in our faith. We have to be willing to be like Job who said, though thou slay me, yet will I serve thee. Until we can really examine our relationship with the Lord and our faith, we won't be ready for what is coming.

I agree completely with you Sonshine. We need to ask God to personally give us a revival in our own hearts. Our prayer should be first for our own spiritual needs and whien that is met for the needs of others and our nation. We must have a right relationship with Him first. That includes reading the Bible and living up to it as God commands us to. Also being willing to serve Him no matter what comes our way.

Re: Obama Does Some Seoul-Searching after Gaffe
This was from a CL ad that someone sent me the link for. (Don't know how long the link will last, so I decided to paste and copy it.)
Fifty-year old manure spreader. Not sure of brand. Said
to have been produced in Kenya. Used for a few years in Indonesia
before being smuggled into the US via Hawaii. Of questionable pedigree.
Does not appear to have ever been worked hard. Apparently it was
pampered by various owners over the years. It doesn't work very often,
but when it does it can really sling the manure for amazing distances. I
am hoping to retire the manure spreader next November.
I really don't want it hanging around getting in the
way. I would prefer a foreign buyer to relocate the manure spreader out
of the country. I would be willing to trade it for a nicely framed copy
of the United States Constitution.

Dizzy, LOL I thought I had read just about all that was out there, but this is a new one.
Re: Obama Does Some Seoul-Searching after Gaffe
You know, when Obama ran for office, he promised change. And, he did live up to his promise.
As a result of this change, we've had a health care bill forced on us that the majority don't want.
We've lost our AAA credit rating.
Our deficit is higher.
And I'm sure there are plenty of others. Our nation has become an Obamanation.

Re: Obama Does Some Seoul-Searching after Gaffe
Dizzy, LOL You're on a roll, and unfortunately all too correct. I just pray folks will wake up before it's too late. As it is now, it'll take a while to straighten out the damages his administration have done.
Re: Obama Does Some Seoul-Searching after Gaffe
From a local free paper.
Obama says that if he is re-elected he pledges that he will:
Declare 364 non-labor days...by taxing the rich
Repeal the Obama health care law.... calling it a poorly conceived piece of legislation
Apologize to George Bush for blaming him for everything
Take back all apologies he made on his Worldwide Apology Tour
Will show photographs of the Kenyan hospital he was born in.
