What a day! Empty What a day!

We had planned to muck out the goat stalls and enlarge their pen today. Well, we managed to get the pen enlarged, but the stalls will have to wait for another day. We have only done the girls pen so far, since they have all those babies now sharing their yard. We'll get to the boys next week. The pen is now 3 times the size it was, which should give them plenty of room to run and play. We have a few stumps from an old gum tree that we're going to put in there for them to play on, as well as make some ramps and platforms. I love to watch them play king of the stump. Smile When we first removed the fencing from the old section of their pasture they were hesitant to venture out. Then, slowly and cautiously, Cookie, the herd queen, took a tentative step across the now invisible barrier. She realized that there was more grass and weeds on that side and was soon happily munching away. A few minutes later Taffy got interested. She wasn't as brave as Cookie though. She took one small step into the new area, then stopped and looked over her shoulder as if to say, am I suppose to be doing this? Then another step and another backward glance. After a couple more times of this stop and go she made it into their new paradise. Now Cookie and Taffy weren't venturing far from their comfort zone, but Butterscotch was showing no inclinations to join them. I sat there calling her trying to encourage her to take the leap. I finally herded her into the new area. Soon they were all 3 exploring and tasting the new plant life they were finding. The babies all stayed in the old section today, but I imagine tomorrow we'll see them leaping and running and having a grand old time. Goats are so much fun!

I haven't spent much time around cows, but sure love my little goats. Smile I really get a kick out of watching them. Each has such a distinct personality.
