Who gets into heaven, and why?

On another forum that I frequent a debate topic titled "Only Baptists will get into Heaven" stirred a 7 page debate about who gets into heaven, and who does not.

What say you? Anyone care to go first?

The first church Joe and I attended after we got together was a little Baptist church in a small town in Texas. The pastor started his sermon by saying, "There will be no Baptists in Heaven." You could have heard a pin drop, until he went on by saying there would be no Pentecostals, no Methodists, and methodically went through various denominations. Religion is not going to get into Heaven. The ones who will get into Heaven are those who recognized their sinful nature and their need for a Savior. Those who repent of their sins and ask Jesus to be their Redeemer. Those who have developed a relationship with Jesus.

The only ones going to Heaven are the ones who realize they are sinners, ask for forgiveness of their sins, and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Works will not get you to Heaven either. Jesus paid the price of our sins with HIS life. It doesn't matter what religion you are, you'll go to Heaven as long as you've received God's free gift of salvation.

Wow even this ain't gonna stir debate, once again we all agree.
