http://www.myrecycledbags.com/

For those of yall that crochet this is a really cool site. They use the recyclable plastic bags. The top blog post has Christmas stockings. I would love to do this but I can not crochet.

She also has recycled tshirts made into yarn. Called tarn. She made castiron handle covers out of it.

Interesting site, but I couldn't find where she shows how to make the plastic bags into plarn or the t-shirts into tarn. Did I miss it?

Thanks. It is interesting. I'm not real good at crocheting, but would love to try this.

Plastic bags is what I make my totes out of that I sell. You just fold the bag from side to side several times and cut in strips after cutting off the bottom and top. Then loop the oval strips together instead of tying. I don't really know how to tell you to loop them in words, but could show you. Wink I didn't go to her links to see if that's how this lady does it, but that's how I do it. Let me tell you, crocheting with plastic is quite different from crocheting with yarn or thread. If you have or can get a wooden hook, that works much better - it slides easier on wood.

Deena,
We're going to have to find a day we can meet. I'd love to have you show me how to do the totes or even how to crochet with plastic. I have tons of plastic bags.

Now that sounds like fun! Trust me, you're going to need tons of bags if you want to make a tote. My medium bag takes 65 - 70 bags to complete. Wink I do a beach bag size that takes about 150. Basically, one strip of plastic of a normal size bag will do 3, yes 3, stitches!

I am saving my bags but cant crochet for anything. It is probably a Rebekka project. She is goos at that type of thing. I cross stitch and that is it.

I've been to that site many times. It's good. You can also crochet old VCR tapes and cassette tapes. I've not worked with the plarn yet but it's only because I have so many other things I am crocheting.
Crochet is cheaper than a shrink and you get a usable item out of it! Smile

Beanie,
I can imagine crocheting with old VCR tapes. Now I know what to do with all my old ones. Smile
