What not to feed chickens

Post by CajunMom on Sat May 23, 2009 6:56 pm

Here is one of those things not to feed chickens. Do not feed them peelings from raw shrimp! If you do, your eggs will smell and taste like rotten shrimp for a few days! tongue YUK!!!!!! Then you do not feel like eating eggs for awhile! It could ruin your appetite for a few days. Hey! Maybe a new diet? (lol)

I heard not to feed the raw potatoe peels because there is something in them that is poisonus to them. But I have been doing it for years.
They also like crab leg shells. But Id cook those too. Smile

We have feed them boiled crab and crawfish peelings before too. It was the uncooked shrimp peelings that did it. Now my husband says no more seafood. He says it is not worth losing your appetite for eggs just to feed them peelings. At this point, I agree. From eating around 4 eggs a day to eating none. It is just not worth it.
