Prayers for my friend Judy and her grown kids
My friend Judy has had a rough time of it over the last few years. Her husband basically left her for another woman. He wanted a divorce, but she refused. He has been pretty hard hearted with her over the past few years.
This morning she got the news that he was found dead by his father. Evidently he had a loaded gun in his truck and sometime either last night or this morning he had gone to get in the truck and moved the gun. When he moved it the trigger got caught on something and shot him in the stomach. He was not living with anyone else at the time and lives out in the sticks, so there was no one to investigate a gunshot. He basically bled to death.
My friend is pretty upset. I can't say she was still in love with him, but he was still her main source of financial support since he was still paying her mortgage and the bills. Her two grown daughters are a mess, as you would probably guess. I am not sure that any of them are saved. I have been witnessing to my friend for several years. She listens but is still not terribly convinced.
Please keep this family in your prayers over the next few days.

Oh how horrible, I'll definitely be praying for all of them.

Re: Prayers for my friend Judy and her grown kids
Yesterday was the day of the funeral and I went along to act as a buffer between my friend and the rest of the gang. The day went fairly well and the drama stayed to a reasonable level most of the day.
My prayers were answered in a few ways. The weather was totally beautiful today, which made driving so much nicer. We were safe traveling even though we left at a bit before 7 am and I got home at almost 9 pm. I was physically able to handle the day without too much stress.
The best answered prayer of all was the sermon. Evidently, the funeral home in this tiny Kansas town has a list of local churches that will perform funerals for those with no attachments. I am not sure if anyone necessarily picked the pastor that spoke or if he was just luck of the draw, but he was most excellent. He was from the local Baptist church and if nothing else happens to them, you could say that every person in attendance has heard the Gospel in plain English. He put out the road to salvation in a very plain way and even prodded them a bit, by saying there is no telling who will be in the coffin next. He was NOT given much of a listen to by the attendees, but it was out there.
The church also provided, a supper at the local tiny hotel. Sandwiches, fried chicken, chips and a drink. Very nice if you ask me.

I'm glad the weather was nice for the trip and that the Pastor's message was plain and simple, with the road to salvation as the highlight. Sometimes the community that reaches out in a time of need can see those affected by the tragedy come back to seek salvation.

They may not have been listening, but I'm sure they still heard. Glad things went well.
