gold rush barbque sauce

Post by amybyrd21 on Sat May 16, 2009 10:13 am

This is my Dad's sauce. I grew up with it on chicken in the summer. Almost burnt chicken but it still tasted good. I asked for it today and he gave it to me. I have played with it a little to get it to what I want. You can adjust to your taste as the recipe is a general one.
Works well on baked chicken too (I did that as it was raining today)

Gold Rush Barbecue Sauce
½ stick margarine
½ Cup mustard
2 Tbs. ketchup
½ tsp. cayenne pepper
Few shakes garlic powder
Dash of salt
1 to 2 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
1 tsp. lemon juice
This makes only a small amount of sauce, so you may need to double or triple amounts. Also, you may want to adjust amounts to the taste you desire

I wish this had been here earlier. I made barbeque ribs tonight. I make my own sauce, but I just make up the recipe as I go. This sounds good.

I make my own some times too. But if you have ribs and it is too cold to BBQ take them place them in a casserole dish, add bbq sauce and an equal amount of water cover with foil and cook at 350 they will fall apart. So If you use 1 c sauce use 1 c water. Chicken works too. I usually brine mine in season salt and a little sugar and water before cooking.

Actually it was raining today, so I cooked them in the oven along with potatoe wedges.
