Rules for anything homemade swap Empty Rules for anything homemade swap

Post by Sonshine Fri May 31, 2013 11:56 am

I'm hoping we can do this as an annual swap that everyone can participate in no matter what your craft or hobby. Here's how it works:

You will be paired with a "pal" (names will be drawn randomly). You and your pal will PM or email each other and get to know a little bit about each other (such as your favorite colors, favorite hobbies, decorating styles, family life, state you live in, etc.). Based upon that information, you will make something for your pal and send it to her or him; your pal will be making something specifically for you and sending it to you. You will both ship at the same time so you both receive your gifts at around the same and share the "surprises" together.

The idea of the swap is get to know each other a little better and to see all the talents of folks here. Every one can do something. Whether it's woodworking, knitting, soap making, or any other crafts you like to do. Get creative and have some fun with it. We did this once before and I recieved a lovely birdhouse from amybyrd.

The deadline to sign up will be July 15th. I will post the Pal's list at the end of July; at which time you should immediately PM and make contact with your Pal. The date to have your projects finished and mailed will be NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 10th!!!!

If you do not intend to follow through on this swap do not sign up! Please!!! We don't want people being disappointed. If you do sign up and realize you won't be able to follow through, please contact me immediately. Also, if you don't hear from your pal for awhile, let me know so I can try to figure out what's going on.

IMPORTANT: IF YOU SIGN UP, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBLITY TO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH YOUR PAL NO LESS THAN WEEKLY AND TO CHECK IN WITH A POST ON YOUR PROGRESS HERE AT THIS THREAD AT LEAST EVERY 2 WEEKS!!! This is so we know everyone is still in and accounted for. If you will be away, let us know. IT IS ALSO YOU RESPONSIBLITY TO READ THIS THREAD FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS.

No delayed mailings under any circumstances (NOT even if arranged and agree between Pals -- everyone MUST stay within the the same timeframe).

Pals must communicate with each other every few days.

Everyone must post what they received from their Pal. This is part of the fun to see what everyone recieved (and confirm everyone followed through).

Most of all, just get to know each other and have fun!!!

There's still time for people to sign up for the swap. The more participation, the better, so if you haven't signed up yet, please do. I hold the sign up till the 5gh of July at which time I'll start pairing people up with their swap pals.

we really should get started if we are going to ensure everyone gets a good amount of time...some of us will have to have time for the glue to dry before shipping

LOL Patience is a virtue. I'll try to draw the partner names tomorrow. My family left today, but we're also expecting heavy rain for the next 2 to 3 days, and that's hard on me, so if I don't get it done tomorrow I should be able to the next week.
